The Sacramento Kings have let the Minnesota Timberwolves know they are interested in trading for All-Star forward Kevin Love ? and the Kings would make a deal without any assurance from Love he'd re-sign with them, a league source told Yahoo Sports.

The Kings are willing to give up their eighth overall pick in this year's NBA draft and a combination of players for Love, even though he would not be expected to sign a contract extension before next season ? if ever, with the rebuilding, small-market franchise, the source said. Sacramento envisions Love and DeMarcus Cousins playing alongside each other in the front court. Swingman Rudy Gay has a player's option for next season.

There's not a whole lot that Sacramento could offer Minnesota in terms of short-term contracts to match Love. Landry and Thompson are on multi-year deals. Doesn't make sense for the Kings to use Cousins in a trade, and it doesn't make much sense for the Wolves to take back Gay. Derrick Williams can't be reacquired by Minnesota until after July 1. As a pending RFA, Isaiah Thomas can't be dealt on Draft Night.

Would Minnesota consider McLemore, the #8, and the contracts of Jason Terry and Travis Outlaw (both expiring after next year)? Seems a bit light a return for the Wolves.

You think the Celtics can offer a better package for Love?

That's the kind of offer the Wolves take if everything else falls through.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

Awful package for Love....where are all the Draft Picks...?

C's could offer way more options....including salary relief...Pick #6 (which just might be better than #8 if my math is correct)....Multiple young players and more picks.

Certainly they can. But will Ainge do it?

I do think that Sullinger, the #6, and filler contracts (Bogans, Bass, Faverani) trumps what I guessed at above. But perhaps the Kings are willing to add additional picks?

I think the thing to take out of this is that teams are going to come out of the wood work to make offers for Love.  Which means there will be a bidding war.  Which means someone is going to over pay for him.  Hopefully it won;t be the Celtics.

The Kings can offer the 8th, 2 future 1st, mclemore to entice wolves to give up Love.

Honestly with these workouts happening, gm's like Danny might get reluctant to give up the 6th even for love.

If any of the top 6 or 7 becoming really good and Love doesn't resign, Ainge will be ridiculed for a long time.

The Kings gm on the other hand prob knows they will likely get Vonleh dropping to them. So i don't blame them for wanting to get Love instead.

I don't believe for a second that this is true. Kevin Love is in the tier below LeBron and Durant, with Howard, Aldridge, Paul, YES I SAID CHRIS PAUL, okay maybe not Chris Paul but Melo, whomever. If they're not named LeBron, Durant, Anthony Davis, or Chris Paul, there really isn't a guy in the league I think is head and shoulders above Kevin Love. Davis because of his potential future.

In any case Danny is not keeping A-A-Ron Gordon or anyone potentially going 6th back if it means acquiring Love or not.

Not that Danny will overpay, but just saying, Danny's not gonna hangup because Minnesota has the audacity to require the 6th be involved in any trade negotiations.

That's why I've been harping on the my belief that the Kings would indeed trade for Rondo even without a guarantee he'd re-sign.

How r you certain randle, smart or gordon wont be as good or on par with love?

Also if he is so good as you say why has he not made the playoffs since being drafted?

If I had to bank on who's firsts would end up being better it would have to be Kings in a landslide and only one of the reasons is the conference they play in. We have our picks and/or BKN's against Kings picks, be honest which team is potentially worse with KLove? Tell me how Celtics don't have an easier road (organization) to make the most out of having Love.

Give me 2 future Kings first rounders over Celtics/BKN 2 future firsts any day of the week even if our picks bring Sully with them... Kings could still be bad enough to land you a shot at top picks while with Love, I don't see how we miss the playoffs in the east and BKN has the pockets to at least keep them in the playoffs too.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Nets are easily in the worst position. Williams is 30 coming off double ankle surgery, Johnson is 33, and Lopez has those foot ailments. They have no ability to improve via the draft since they traded most of their picks, and have little on the team as far as youth movement goes. They may be willing to spend, but this isn't baseball and fortunately the rules prohibit them from just lavishly spending on free agents.

The Kings would have Love and Cousins. To me, that's easily a playoff team. Whether it's an 8th seed or not.

With the amount of Picks we have...plus non-guaranteed contracts, Young CHEAP Players....TPE...relationship with Wolves front office...etc---if Danny loses out on Love, it will be a miserable failure.
