Orlando can take Smart or Ennis at six, and pick up another really good player at 17.

I probably would. Orlando is really high on Smart, so the deal would have to be contingent on him being available at 6. According to reports, they would've taken Smart ahead of Oladipo last season.

Nope.

I want veteran help, not rookies with questionable upside.

Also looking at their roster they are horrible at the P.F. spot. I mean horrible. Andrew Nicholson is 24 years old now and averages 5.7ppg 3.4 rpg. Very real possibility they take Randle, Vonleh, Gordon

I would definitely do that, question is would Orlando?

What this all boils down to in my opinion is how significant they think the drop off is from Exum to Smart/Ennis. They're clearly going to want to draft their point guard of the future, and if they like Smart enough I think we could get them to bite.

I would (especially if Parker or Embiid slipped) but I don't think Orlando would.

They're gonna ask for a lot more than #6 & #17, though.

Yup, sure would.

Trade no 6 and 17 for the no 4 pick, no doubt!!

....and then turn around and ship that no 4 pick to Minnesota for Kevin Love.

Unless Kevin Love is still on the draft board after the top 3, then no.

If Parker, Wiggins or Embiid is still there at 4... absolutely.

Orlando probably wouldnt do that.

I think it would take Rondo + #6 + Wallace's bad contract for #4 and Jameer Nelson's expiring contract.

Why for Boston:  They get a young potential franchise player to build around with the #4 pick.  They dump Wallace's bad contract.  They build around Exum, Sully, Oly  and utilize the cap space to keep acquiring draft picks while we develop the children.  If Rondo is fleeing, they might as well.

Why for Orlando:  They get a former all-star PG who still has some years left in the tank... losing out on Exum would stink, but they could land another young big with #6.  They have the cap space to absorb Rondo and Wallace's contract.

Dumb idea all-around, but I'm having trouble imagining Orlando giving up a potential star for #6 and #17... I think Rondo + #6 at least gets their attention.

Even if it was Rondo #6 and #17 Orlando isn't stupid enough to trade a cost controlled superstar for mediocrity. This draft is 4 deep in franchise players

You know better than to just throw Rondo in there as an afterthought. You just like to get people going. If we are giving up Rondo, then there is no reason to include any other draft picks - Rondo for #4 and Nelson's expiring. Orlando should be thrilled with that.

As for the proposed deal - sure. If Orlando really was as hot on Smart as we've heard all along, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't drop down a couple of slots to get the player they want while acquiring another mid-draft pick in a deep draft. Exum is clearly the #4 prospect - if it were for Embiid, Wiggins, Parker, this would not be a possibility.

For Boston, we get a top prospect at a position of need who should play very well with Rondo. Losing #17 hurts, but it's okay, we have a number of other young players and upcoming picks.
