Tiago's great and all but he had a poor year (from what I remember) leading up to playoffs. I feel like he's the type of player that doesn't fare well if you take him out of Pop's system. I wouldn't over pay for him at the $9mil range which I believe he's at now. Not saying that was bad on the Spurs part because good big men are hard to find and he was a necessity to pair with Timmy.

Good defender, but doesn't do much... He doesn't rebound as well, and the fact hes done so well is due to Pops system..

I want Kawhi Leonard... This is a guy who would dominate on both ends if taken out of Pops system...

It's based on your perspective, quite simply

Son, I ain't better than you, I just think different

Everybody looks like an all-star playing for Pop, and when they move to a new team they look like D-league players.

Splitter will be a scrub if ever he leaves pops system. Think Richard Jefferson, Gary Neal, George Hill - - > all of them non-impact players after leaving san antonio. The spurs are like the Syracuse oif the NBA (Hi Fab Melo!)
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

Jefferson was an all-star before the Spurs, not while playing there.

I don't think Splitter would really flurish outside of Pops system either... But Like  Eddie said, Jefferson had success pre spurs and George Hill, even though not out of this world, is still the starting point guard on the team with the best record in the East.

And vice versa, as in Danny Green from CLE to SAS.

Let's not forget how bad Splitter was in last year's Finals.

playing with a great PG (arguably one of the 15 best players in the game) and arguably the greatest PF of all time helps. that's not a knock on splitter, who i think is a solid role player, but don't expect him to be quite as good anywhere else.

Tiago is a fine player. He performed poorly in the Finals last year?? BS...he was a solid role player who got blocked by James in a highlight play. In Pop's system he is fine, I wouldn't pay for him outside of that.

....On the other hand even though he is the future face of the Spurs franchise I'd take Kawhi Leonard in a heartbeat. The guy is a beast no matter what system he is in.

  Clearly his best years were with Kidd in NJ.

I have noticed this too....players are proclaimed indispensable when on Spurs.....but when they are traded.....they usually suck bad for the next team

I think this is all part of,the Duncan legacy as much as the coach.

I disagree. It wasn't even that play I was thinking of; I saw him make a lot of mental mistakes and miss several opportunities, throughout the series. I distinctly remember yelling at him in my mind a lot.  ;D
