Houston is not a good trade partners based on their assets, Lin and Asik are not the right type of players for this team going forward.

Houston is desperate for an upgrade at PG but I think the C's are better off holding out for another interested party to grab Rondo.  Otherwise, we should commit to trying to extend or resign him.

On fire, huh?

Well, let me put that fire out:

Nice pretty GREEN Fire Truck, too.

You ain't getting him, lol.....not for what I've seen offered.

Have these teams drooling over Rondo forgotten what he's done in the playoffs? His worth, IMO - is VERY high...I hope Danny doesn't let these teams low-ball us.

I don't think Houston has a Ghosts chance of acquiring Rondo this off season.

Actually there is a Ghosts Chance, but it requires them to sacrifice just about any hope of Carmelo Anthony.

They could send us Asik/Lin/Unguaranteed contracts for Rondo/Wallace. That'd maximize our 2015 cap space.

But they'd lose the flexibility they need to add Anthony.

That's a horrible trade for us.

But isn't anything involving Rondo "a horrible trade"?

Even LeBron for Rondo.

Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

well sure, but if you get Parsons and/or Jones, plus Asik and Lin for Rondo and Green or something like that.

Maybe the fans down there are pushing for this, but I would be shocked if Daryl Morey was. Rondo is a horrible fit for Houston. Howard and Harden would both have a very hard time adjusting to Rondo. Their whole system is based on spacing, and Rondo would ruin it.

Parsons just strikes me as an overachiever in the glue guy role.  His game has come along well but I dont favor trading stars for parts unless they include golden tickets (mid to high draft picks).  Same goes for Jones, I prefer Beverly as a guy with more upside.

Coachbo, the king of hyperbole. Imagine how much funnier it would be if people actually said the kind of things you claim they do, assuming you're even aware that they don't.

I'd be willing to bet this one is objectively horrible.

Not really, acually. A Rondo & Wallace trade for Asik, Lin, expiring contract fillers, and a few 1st rd draft picks (including #25 this year) seems like a pretty good return. We'd be able to rid ourselves of the Wallace contract, something that Mannix has stated that would cost us a future 1st rd pick in itself. We also wouldn't be forced to give Rondo the max or near max money he'll be likely seeking this summer. This abdundance of cap space, especially if Green opts out of his contract at year's end as expected, would make us a major player in the summer of 15 when free agents include Love, M. Gasol, Jordan, Dragic, and Aldridge.

So we get rid of Rondo and, while we lose Wallace, pay $30M next year for Asik and Lin. Then we have cap space and a terrible roster, which pretty much anyone who follows the nba can tell you is a recipe for not signing anyone of note, unless you want to greatly overpay for one of the players you listed. Also, take a look at the #25 picks for the last 5-6 years, take the middle player from there talent-wise and convince yourself that's a good sweetener for the deal.

I'd be very interested in a BballTim approved Rondo trade -- using real players with real names, not descriptive nouns.

Why does there have to be one?

I don't think they'd be good at all. Both guys are well below average shooters, which makes it a lot simpler to defend. And Houston doesn't have the cap room for Rondo and Melo

Trade Bass w/Rondo and run a 1/4 s/r with Parsons and Harden on the wing and DH on the weak side (like we used Shaq for that short time).

Unstoppable.
