This is why I've said since the beginning of this year that Lillard is better than Rondo.

Should have seen that one coming.

SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas

The sad part is that every time an up and coming point guard does something amazing, there's always going to be a mention on how Rondo is inferior to him. Lillard is great and is a future superstar, but is it really necessary to paint Rondo in a negative light (especially when he has amazing performances of his own.), whenever a young point guard steps up their game?

I give Lillard credit tonight, but it's not like Harden was a defensive juggernaut on that play ( or ever) lol  ;D

I'm just glad the Blazers advanced and to see new faces in the playoffs.

Because we are Celtics fans, we do not want to make Rondo inferior.

But I think both PG's are good in different aspects of the game.

Very Brandon Roy-esque.

I'm getting frustrated with these ESPN commentators. They obviously want Houston to win this game. Can you please do your job without a bias like you are supposed to? Gah

I agree.....it's biased as can be for Rockets .......Hubbie can bite me.

Announcers always root for close games and close series.   But if you listened just after the game there was a pretty good hint for another reason why they might've been rooting for Houston - now that this series is over Mike + Hubie apparently have to go to Toronto for an early Sunday game.  They were kind of laughing about it a little.

As an aside, I have to admit -- I'm rooting for the Raptors.  All love to Paul and KG, but I like that Toronto team, and I want to see them succeed.  I don't particularly like most of the other players on that Nets team.

I feel similarly except I think Miami will grind Toronto to paste.  I think they'll still beat the Nets but in a much rougher series.  And I want Miami to have some trouble given how wide-open the East and how brutal the West is right now.

Seeing Lillard take over the game last night and hit that incredible game winning shot makes me think:

1. Nothing wrong with taking guys who play 3 plus college years.
2. Nothing wrong with taking guys who are from mid-major schools.
3.  Nothing wrong with shooting point guards who are more shooters than play-makers.

If Portland keeps playing like this, they could go all the way to the finals.  I was pulling for Houston, but really like Portland.  Hope they go all the way!!

It is very interesting that the point guard position continues to be dominated by small scoring guards. 15 years ago Iverson and Marbury were an anomaly to some degree.

Now we see Westbrook, Lillard, Curry, Wall lighting things up. Rose as well when healthy. Maybe Kyrie Irving fits in this group as a score first guard.

Where has the scoring/shooting guard position gone? They are point guards now. Even Wade in his prime or Harden play a ball dominant point/scoring guard role.

I think with the way perimeter defense is being called now, and the increasing lack of playmakers in the post, teams are finding out that it really helps your offense to have multiple players on the floor who can handle the ball, pass, and create their own shot, so the distinction between "point guard" and "shooting guard" is more about size and speed than skillset.
