After two moronic wins the last few days that could in theory give us the 8th pick. Im starting to wonder if we might just tank again next year. Seriously, what trade will throw us THAT much into contention next year? At best we could bring in Love with Sullinger, our lottery pick, another pick, and filler, but where will that take us? I honestly think we would probably only win 6-7 more games next year if we did that.

I just think it is something to keep in mind guys.

If we are were going to tank in '15 I dont see the reason for us not to have tanked the most recent 2 games.

I'm just in a frustrated and angry fog right now.  Typing is difficult.  We are discussing tanking in '15 and they just had a meaningless win over...Cleveland that decreased our chanes of an elite pick for Wiggins/Parker etc.

Is this real life?

At least KO chin fuzz Legolas got to pose for the Globe in a win.

I think there's a strong possibility that the Cs head into next season with a very young team with even fewer experienced veterans than this year.

If you call that tanking, then sure, it could happen.

what if we get lucky and land a top 3 pick, take Parker , and he goes on a mormon mission . We trade Rondo for another top 10 pick and land Ennis or Smart  .

Then we obviously are going to be bad next year and get a top 10 pick .

That would be a total blow up, but could pay off big time in 3 years.

Once PP and KG got traded, I had full expectations of at least two seasons of mediocrity. If Rondo is traded, I expect a worse record than this year.

Depends on what happens.   But I doubt DA is going to make us into a contender after one tank season but I could be wrong.   Ainge thinks we are in better shape than 2007 but I see no PP to build around.   The guys are our team are fine third fiddles but we have no alpha dogs regardless of what people think.

The draft we could get lucky but too many variables to consider where the chips will fall.

I see us dealing Bass, if AB does not come cheaply, I see him too possibly being dealt.   Humph may be let go or resigned cheaper.  If we land a rim protector who can score down low we may not keep Sully.   Who knows?  Rondo could be dealt.  My son heard that Ainge already has some deals in place, anyone else heard that?

This is what I am referring too.

I was all for a two year tank period. If DA BLOWS THIS [dang] pick as it appears we COULD be doing then NO, I'M OUT! no more tanks. wheel and deal every darn pick now for players who can win now.  I know people will point fingers at me and say  "see lep, that is how we felt after striking out pre-2008 in the lotto." guys, I understand that, but we had a shot this year, a heavily favored shot and we seem to be blowing it all away.

that type of TANK as in developing our young draft studs i am fine with. My complaint is I do not wanna tank if we cannot get a stud this year. wheel and deal. We had our shot and we very may have blown it. It is completely on us. We were tortured all season for what could be nothing draft wise. wow.

Could we tank in 2015? Sure. Rome isn't usually built in an offseason, but sometimes it is. Danny Ainge is just playing the game. He gets dealt cards, trades em, get dealt more cards, works with them. Stay tuned, I guess.

If Parker decides to do the mission thing, is it possible for us to draft him and hold on to his rights? Just thinking of a way to get an elite-ish player if we don't have a top 4 pick. Also, while I'm annoyed to some extent with the past two wins, I do also realize that there aren't any game-changing sure things in this draft like we thought there were back in the fall, and there is some real value in letting our young guys play and play well (esp guys like KO and Pressey, who seem to be real contributors moving forward). And...hey, its a lottery. We've gotten screwed every time with it, so if there's any karma, the year we are one of the few bad teams not trying to tank, maybe we win.

It actually might not be possible. If, and nobody has talked about it so its just about as unlikely as being struck by lightening, if Parker decided to suspend but not end his time at Duke and be a missionary, if he wanted to retain his college eligibility he couldn't be drafted.

Well, we're probably going to stink in 2015, and probably beyond that.

Yeah. He would have to declare for the draft, then go on his mission.

I believe he has reportedly ruled out a mission, though. It's either Duke or the NBA.

It is too early to tell what next year could be like. First we need to get to the lottery day and the draft. I could see the celtics going younger next year, which could make them worse in the short term. It will be a busy 4 weeks here on celticsblog at draft/free agent time.
