  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I think that coach K advises him to move on. Coach K won't lack for blue chippers, and propelling a 1 and done to a top-3 pick only helps his cause long-term, it doesn't hurt them.

why the drama you are a basketball player and your future employers are falling over each other for your service. Stop the drama and go to work. Declare for the draft.

I'm sure he does.

I think you have a much more benevolent outlook on Coach K than I do.

He is just waiting to be sure the Lakers have the best chance to get him , so he isn't stuck playing on the bucks .

So we are all doing our best to help the lakers rebuild

Mitch says
Thanks. Boston.

I d take he shoe contract and play on the Bucks myself ......it's a no brainer.......millions or hang out with buds for a year and get in trouble or injured.....but you never know .....he maybe just can't  see himself a Buck, or stuck in Utah or worse.

Deadline to declare early is April 27.

NBA lottery is on May 20.

I doubt he's waiting to see how the draft order pans out.

It's not benevolence, it's practicality. Until either the NBA chances their rules to increase or decrease their arbitrary rule regarding the unpaid college athletes , one and done will rule the day , even if they don't get wins in the tournament, they'll command national television appearances for any college team that acquires top recruits. If coach K counsels Parker stay, and it goes badly , Coach K suffers.  He doesn't seem the suffering type

Sounds like he just wants to tell his coach in person before announcing for the draft.

Do people accept that he is legitimately conflicted about this and there is a chance he stays at Duke or do most people here think that there is no way he is seriously considering not turning pro?

I think he's legitimately conflicted.  I didn't prior to this stage.  Sounds to me like he wants to stay, even though common sense says go pro.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
The added bonus is that he's got a good chance of either going to one of the heralded franchises in LA or Boston, and if he misses out on those two he may end up on the Mormon team of the NBA in Utah.
Not often you're given a path into great franchises like that when it's usually the bucks or cavs.

Read that last line again. One more time.

I suspect Jabari Parker is gonna stay at Duke. He had a horrid finish and probably isn't all that excited about going to Milwaukee or Utah. He's playing for one of the best coaches on the planet and in front of maybe the 2nd best fans on the planet. He probably actually cares a little about education and knows he's not ready to be an impact player at the next level and doesn't care to be exposed that way and waste a year of his rookie contract. He'll get an insurance policy and stay.

julius Randle is the one surprising me. I thought he'd be long gone by now with at least 2 or 3 other Wildcats. If I'm Calipari I'd be doing everything I can to distract my guys. I'd be like "Hey. They want us on Lettermen. Hey. Let's size our rings"

I'm sure he has conflicting emotions, but I think if he were really that conflicted going down to the wire and talking with his coach were key to his decision-making, he'd be talking to his coach sooner rather than later.

Also, if he's already decided to stay, I don't think he really needs an in-person meeting with his coach. Timing an announcement for next Tuesday or Wednesday maximizes the press coverage, and he seems to be very attentive to that kind of press.

Jabari Parker should stay in College. He is not ready for the NBA.
