Wallace is only on the books for 2 more years.  His salary slot could be a trade asset in 1 year (what the Nets pulled off with us). I don't think we have to be desperate to trade him.  We can always amnesty him if it was that important.

Extra 1st and a trade exception for him is worth a lot more next year.

I would pray that we package it for a bonafide all star if we could

Yes, I would trade it in a heartbeat.

Especially if the pick could net us a player like Kevin Love, Lamarcus Aldridge, Marc Gasol or Melo.

The sooner we get back to contention, the better (IMO.)

Nope, unless we got a first next year, unconditional, and the pick we swapped was a top three.

Nope.

If we get the #1 pick I think the better plan is to focus on having a young team that is on the cusp of contention 2-3 years from now, so that by the time Wiggins / Parker is eligible for a max extension, we have a good long-term situation to offer him with players that complement his game.

like many others have stated: depends on the return.

trade down to #2 or #3 and pick up another lottery pick this year or an unprotected pick for next year from a team projected to still be in the lottery (Philly or Milwaukee), probably.

Example, we get #1, Milwaukee gets 2 and Philly gets 3.  both of them are looking at Wiggins as the primary choice since they each have big men and are leary of Embiid's back.  Philly offers both the #3 and their pick from NO this year, I'd do it.   We'd get either Parker or Embiid while picking up another top prospect with the NO pick.

As for trading it for an established star, it'd have to be a great 2-way player.  Aldridge would be fine but we already have PFs.  Love wouldn't be enough -- no D.  Melo, no D but one of the top offensive players in the game.    As much as I want to get back to being a contender again, I don't want to rush the process where we end up as a flash in the pan for a couple of seasons as opposed to building a solid core of talent that contends for 6-7 years or more like Bird/Mchale/Parish

i wouldn't mind trading the #1 pick as long as we're still able to draft Wiggins, or trade for Lebron/Durant. Otherwise, i'll probably pass.

So you're saying I trade the #1 this year for a later lottery pick plus an unprotected pick for next year from a rebuilding team?

I'd shop it around, but yes I would certainly do that. I don't even have a favorite for that #1 pick anyway.

I'm with you on this one, if we get a first this year, I am not trading it unless it's someone like Lebron (which we won't get), so no :)

I rather start young, and hope our 1st pick ends up being a superstar, in which Lebron will start his decline.

I am trying to think who I would trade it for.  DeMar DeRozan?  LMA?  DMC?  Harden?  It's really hard to judge the value of it

People always say that. We cannot amnesty him. He would have to be with his original team.

If Embid's back checks out okay, I would not trade. I would draft him, and build team around him and Rondo.  Everyone else is available.

This is incorrect.  Wallace is not eligible for an amnesty.

yepp, this should be common sense by now...

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I don't think you trade the pick unless it's a godfather offer. I could see moving it for the 2nd or 3rd, but for a player? Exactly who would matter. I could see a rapid rebuild, but..I don't think, for instance, that Id trade the pick for Kevin Love, with no extension. Firm no on DMC or LMC , unless it came with heavy cap relief, and I doubt either deal is on the table anyways. I doubt a deal is out there honestly.
