He doesn't have T.J. Warren going in the first round?  I'm admittedly not a college hoops junkie, but he's leading the ACC in scoring on 53% shooting.

Of course he forgot that that the Hawks can swap picks.

Didn't forget, he just has a weird interpretation of the agreement. He states in the footnotes that the Hawks can swap with the Nets, and the Cs "may" end up winding up with the lesser pick. My question is, in what world do they not?

Hmmm...I wonder if they're forced to give up a second round pick if they do swap. For example, if we swap in 2017 we have to give the Nets a 2nd rd pick. If that's the case, perhaps the Hawks don't feel moving a few picks is worth the price.
There isn't any such condition placed on the Hawks/Nets swap according to the RealGM draft picks owed chart.

I know it's not there, but that site should serve as a guide and not necessarily the gospel on trades. Perhaps Ford has heard something. I just find it odd that he worded it in such a way without any backing.

Ford is just wrong, he forgot the details and wrote his mock and just had an editor put the notes in probably.

For us to get the Hawks draft slot they'd have to swap with the Nets to go down. So if there was a similar caveat they'd paying a future second round pick to move down in the draft.

Jabari would be a great addition, but I have a feeling we're going to climb in the standings over the last 22 games.

Our schedule is tough. Hopefully we don't. We seem to be sitting guys out no matter what an issue is also. I think we get to 25 wins. Hopefully still a top six or seven pick and nice asset.

Let's say it is top 7 tho. We have a variety of other assets we could use to package with that pick to potentially move up a bit.

While I love that line of thinking, this year it will cost more than usual to move up even 1-2 slots. I also think any team that finishes in the top three would refuse to, or at least be crazy to trade down.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

Maybe, depends on how it all shakes out. I could easily see a Kevin Love for OJ Mayo type deal. Where a team in the top 3 loves Exum or Parker and knows 4 or 5 will give up something to be sure of getting their guy.

Exactly.  If Brookyln were below the Hawks in the standings currently, some alternative explanation would make sense.  But why would the Hawks have the option to switch with Brooklyn, and do so to give up the better pick?  Unless some mistake was made during the trade, and everyone accidentally agreed that the two teams would automatically swap under any condition, this makes no sense.

I think Cauley Stein is getting picked way too low. If we decide to leave him on the board when we make our second pick i'll be upset.
That is what I was thinking.  Shooters are a lot easier to find than 7 foot centers.  I think we have to go Cauley-Stein if he is on the board unless a real talent slips.

I tend to agree with this, and I do like WCS a good deal.  But centers who are limited offensively have sometimes seemed to slip in the draft -- take Plumlee last year, for instance.  The modern NBA places such a premium on being able to space the floor offensively that his weakness in that regard may limit his value.

On the other hand, he's the best defensive 7-footer in the draft.  I'm really impressed with his ability to handle a switch on pick-and-roll action, and stay in front of a point guard.  It does seem that he provides a skillset this team lacks.  Of course, Stauskas would be the best shooter on this team the day he arrived, so that's also a good fit.

I am surprised by this too. Warren looks terrific. I would think he would be an excellent pick late in the first round.

I like WCS in the mid first round. I also like a bunch of swing men. I think no matter what, something good could slide to us there.

The mock draft still makes zero sense even with his "footnote". He has us getting the Hawks higher draft slot! That'd mean that the Hawks would have to choose to swap and get a worse draft pick. I bet he wrote up his whole piece without bothering to look up the details and didn't want to change it.

Spaced on it during the draft process, most likely. Once it went to publication it's too big to change, really.

If we get Parker at 4, I say trade up if necessary to get Harris with our second pick. That draft would give us two starters.  Awesome.  Trade Green, let Bradley go, or sign and trade him.

TJ Warren is a 6'8" PF.  He can sort of play SF, but it's not really his position.  Hopefully Danny stays away
