I think Cauley Stein is getting picked way too low. If we decide to leave him on the board when we make our second pick i'll be upset.
That is what I was thinking. Shooters are a lot easier to find than 7 foot centers. I think we have to go Cauley-Stein if he is on the board unless a real talent slips.
I tend to agree with this, and I do like WCS a good deal. But centers who are limited offensively have sometimes seemed to slip in the draft -- take Plumlee last year, for instance. The modern NBA places such a premium on being able to space the floor offensively that his weakness in that regard may limit his value.
On the other hand, he's the best defensive 7-footer in the draft. I'm really impressed with his ability to handle a switch on pick-and-roll action, and stay in front of a point guard. It does seem that he provides a skillset this team lacks. Of course, Stauskas would be the best shooter on this team the day he arrived, so that's also a good fit.
