I'm sick and tired of hearing players say they want to play for the Lakers. Why because it's Hollywood? ****!

Me too. I live near L.A., and I don't see the attraction. Warm weather? More like hot as Hades in the summer. Also, the Lakers have fewer young prospects than the Cs, and Kobe's on his last leg. What's the attraction, again?

Brand exposure.

in the article he says he wants to be a part of the great Laker/Clippers rivalry.

Ummm, is he from an alternate universe?  ;D

I wonder what Dante Exum's Mount Rushmore looks like.

Blake Griffin, CP3, Kobe, and . . . Pau? Doc Rivers? DeAndre Jordan? That old actor dude in the sunglasses that sits in the front row of Laker games?
Andrew Gaze, Andrew Bogut, Luc Longley and Patty Mills

Not to mention being young, athletic, famous, and single in the place that where, as Jon Favreau put it in Swingers, “like the hottest one percent from from all over the world come to our gene pool.”

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
If this happens, this could start a movement of young kids forcing their ways into other teams.

This is not good.

Didn't happen after Kobe did it. And rookies have less bargaining power than they did then.

Yup.......Lakers are advertised , raved about .... Loved my the media.......Media loves them..... TV .....everything is about the Lakers........even when the Pacers are having a great team and all......Lakers still make the news every time somebody farts  in LA.

Young kids are gullible ,   And go with the brand name every time ......

And let's be honest a lot of these kids aren't rocket scientists ,  they are poor, and dream of the Hollywood rich lifestyle .

Personally I wouldn't give you two cents for everybody in LA .....you couldn't pay me to live with that nest of screwballs

But we are talking about hype and glamor the MEDIA throws at these kids and the public in general....I pay little attention to any TV media anymore

I live in LA and lemme tell you...a bunch of clowns reside in LA. From celebrities to fans...ugh. Bunch of prima donna celebrities all over Hollywood. Then you got LA fans who are mostly bandwagoners or riding on someone's midsection. Most of last year's Lakers fans are now Clipper fans lulz. As for environment goes, I don't like LA traffic and smog. And I agree with the other poster that it's crazy hot even in winter season. California's in a drought yo!

Honestly I would not want to get anywhere near the Lakers with the current ownership.  I have a feeling they are going to be bad for a long time.  Its going to be Knicks West Coast.

Is Exum that good? He plays against a bunch of short Australian guys. What kind of competition has he proved himself on. Just sayin'.

This is not good.

It has happened before and never became habitual, so hopefully it doesn't in the future.  Here are the few that I remember:

Kobe refusing to play for anyone but LA/NYC/Chicago

Danny Ferry refused to sign with LAC (granted that could have been over money.  not sure of the details).

Grant Hill and Jason Kidd's agents let Milwaukee know that their respective clients did not want to be drafted by them in 1994.

Steve Francis refusing to sign with Vancouver.

well, if the lottery goes in order of record right now, Exum would be heading to LA without having to force his way there.
then he's free to suck as a player and a human being.

This what happens when the same lousy teams in cities that teenage brains don't want to live in have the lottery picks year after year .

I was young once , a million years ago and every college I applied for was in the south , most were near the water and I wound up going to one . And don't regret it ......I mean who wants to pay and go to,school in Montana or Minn. at 18 ..unless your born there.and family is there is different of course.  You don't know any better.

These are wide open kids with pushy agents , it doesn't take a lot of coaxing to make them snub a place like Cleveland or Toronto .

LA promises them everything they see on TV  ::)

At the very least they want a winning tradition like Boston or Chicago .

Kids that get the free rides to places in Idaho, Nebraska , Iowa, Kansas ....and yeah upper Michigan reminds me of Siberia so they want to get out and head for the fast life ASAP.
