Some argued that letting guys like Bass and Hump play in Stevens' system would highlight their skills and in turn increase their trade value. It was also argued that moving these guys close to the trade deadline would still leave the Cs enough time to tank and position themselves for a top 3 pick in this upcoming potent draft.

There's no doubt that Bass and Hump have played well. Honestly, I wouldn't mind having them as role players moving forward based on their level of play. At the same time, however, we have won more games because of this, and it is starting to seem that inadvertently their quality play has put Danny in a difficult position.

Teams around the league that might want the services of our role players know that the Cs are looking to unload talent to get a prized pick, and now everyone seems locked in a game of chicken. Who is going to move first? The buyers or the sellers?

It's all pretty fun to watch, but given that Danny already got some nice deals done with JCraw and CLee, I'm left with the question of whether or not he has waited too long on moving Bass and Hump. Time will tell, as it always does, but I'm worried that considering we are already 7th in worst records, we might be too far off a top 3 pick and getting weak offers for our talent because buyers know how badly they need to be moved...

Maybe Danny Boy will be a surprise buyer at the deadline. There is an adage to go against the flow of the market where we pick up proven players such as Kevin Love with assets like Jared Sullenger and Kelly Olynyk and picks. Do we have confidence that we are multiyear contenders with Rondo, AB, JG, Kevin Love, Bass, and role players. A lot of possibilities exist both this week and into the the next three active trading sessions ending with the 2015 draft. Tanking for Wiggins and Embiid this year would be a mistake if the most of the top freshmen go back to school for their Sophomore years.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

I just think its a tougher market out there than much of us expected earlier in the season.

Buyer's are holding their ground and values aren't as high as things may have been in that past (Lowe touched on this concept pretty well in a recent column).

How can we know what if any offers he has received for them?

You will never know if Danny waited too long because you will never know what offers were out there earlier.  I think some teams could really use Bass, Hump, and Green for a push through the playoffs, the question is whether those teams think it is worth it.

Green seems perfect for Phoenix and there style of play and Bass seems like the perfect 4 high post to pair with Howard but it remains to be seen if those teams think that and what they are willing to do to get those players.  Almost any team seems like they could use Hump off the bench and he is a large expiring contract.

It's going about how I thought it might.  There's a reason I suggested before the season that Kris Humphries might be more likely to get bought out after the deadline than traded before it.

No. I haven't heard/seen many potential deals other than Asik.

ALso, lets not operate under the misapprehension that rebuilding will take one year. It will be a multi year process.

The disparity between the elite teams and all the others makes for a very inefficient market. There just aren't any teams out there who figure they are a good one or two role players from contending.  Everyone, including the Lakers and Celtics, are in rebuild mold.

I still don't see why that'd happen. The C's don't need to avoid the tax now and Humphries will want the C's to be available for sign and trade options.

Unless Hump is a distraction or is taking a larger paycut that is standard I think he's with the C's for the rest of this season.
