Does Olynk Sullinger front court work in the future?

I don't know about the future, but it's been working pretty darn good so far in the present.

At least with Jeff Green with them.

So far this season, including last night's game against the Spurs (which dropped these numbers just slightly) when Green, Sully & Olynyk have been on the floor together:

ORtg:  103.3 (points per 100 possessions)
DRtg:   99.4

An interesting point is also to note that when Kelly plays with others (i.e. Green & Sully both on the bench) the DRtg leaps to 109.5 points per 100 possessions while the ORtg drops slightly to 101.6.

But it is also interesting to note that when Green & Sully play together, but without Sunshine, THEIR numbers are worse as well!  ORtg:  100.2, DRtg 102.9.

So, basically, these three have performed very well as a front court threesome.

This is really interesting, and it's surprisingly [dang]ing of Brandon Bass, who gets along ok with Humphries but is clearly not jelling with Sullinger, Green, and Olynyk the way that they are with one another.

Sully and KO will work in the future as a starting PF and back up 4/5. They need a defensive anchor. I ultimately think one gets traded before they play to many years together.

Bass's on/off numbers just aren't very good at all in general.

KO's future is as a 7 foot 6th man who lights up everyone else's bench.  He could be a real problem in that roll for other teams

I project Sully to get packaged like AlJeff within 12 months (and a week) to bring back that defensive center or some other young stud--and KO to be the starting 4 on the C's next competitive team, within two years. KO IMO is the guy who could hit 20-10, while playing great team D.

Agreed with above. Olynyk is an offensive force. Superb passer and improving shooter. His defense is not of high caliber physically, but position wise is quite good.

If Olynyk is a bench player working the perimeter for shots, he is best used.

Sully is great, but, can lose ground when required to play center against good bigs. He should be a real legit NBA PF as soon as management gets us a centah.

Don't see the "two rookies" as a full time front court combo.

Well, the Sully+Olynyk+Green front-court  threesome has been on the court 154 minutes so far this season (though that is, indeed spread across a few different 5-man units based on swapping the PG & SG).

But even 154 minutes is small relative to the number of minutes we have put crappier front-courts on the floor this season.

I really don't get the obsession with KO at the 4.    If he can't defend the 5, I don't see how he's going to last against the quicker power forwards in the league.  He's never going to be a great rim protector but give him time to bulk up and get smarter and I don't see any reason why he and Sully can't coexist defensively.

I see Olynyk's ceiling to be that of a backup 4, or first big off the bench. while I think Sullinger is a starting pf who can maybe aspire to 17ppg, 10rpg

The problem is that Olynyk's floor is, well, a backup 4 that's not the first big off the bench, and Sullinger's floor is Emeka Okafor.
