No chance Utah agrees to this before the lottery. It'd have to wait until then.

They'd probably agree to it, they'd just put protections on the pick.

Which would totally defeat the purpose of getting the pick in the first place.

Because the Jazz will be more likely than not to improve when they get Rondo and Bradley, and the only shot you'll have of getting value for Rondo is by getting lucky on the lottery. If they protect the pick you lose your slim chance of making out in the trade.

The Jazz aren't improving much, if at all, this year by getting Bradley and Rondo. And the Jazz aren't trading us the 4th pick in the draft in this deal.... ever.

There's really no reason for the Jazz to do this before the deadline at all, especially considering the Cs are highly unlikely to trade a gimpy Rondo right now to begin with.

Plus Burke has actually looked pretty good for them.

He's averaged 8/2/5 in his last 7 games on about 25% shooting. I checked out part of a Jazz game a few days ago (because of all the trade for Hayward/Burke posts I was seeing). Those stats are pretty much in line with what I was seeing.
He is averaging 13/5.5/3 or so on the season.  Bad shooting percentage, but for a rookie PG that is to be expected.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Yes, he's not terrible, but from what I've seen of his team you'd clearly improve their team by switching our starting backcourt with theirs.

I think we could sign Hayward if he loves Brad Stevens as is oft stated without this deal.

Hayward has become the most fascinating player in the world for Celticsbloggers.  He's a decent player but Ainge has to think much bigger than that to turn the team around.  Hayward is just another another piece... maybe a hair better than Jeff Green.

If Boston is getting Heyward there is no way they grab Burke in a trade. That's a great package for Rondo though. He's the most overrated player in the NBA today. I would like to find a 3rd team though to dump Heyward for an extra 1st in this draft.

Rondo is the most over-rated player in the NBA today? I think that is more like the most exaggerated statement about the NBA today.

Just because Rondo has had to work his way back into game shape after his ACL recovery, does not mean he is "overrated". I didn't hear people calling KG over-rated his first season back from ACL surgery, when his numbers went down a bit.

And speaking of over-rated, I truly do not understand the obsession with Gordon Hayward around here. Just because he played under Brad Stevens in college, does not mean he will suddenly morph into a superstar if he plays for Stevens again.

sure for the next year or so, but when you get a high first in the trade as well, I think it would be something Ainge would do i.e. basically Rondo & Bradley for Burke, Hayward, Utah 1st.  Other pieces here and there, but I can't see Ainge turning that trade down.

Depends on the conditions of that first rounder.  Which, as discussed before, would almost certainly be protected to any extent.  Therefore, rendering the Celtics need to do this trade moot.  Danny isn't pulling the trigger on this if that first rounder is protected to high heaven and Utah isn't moving that pick unconditionally in that package.

First of all you have no idea how high the draft pick will be. Secondly Danny's got enough current and future draft picks that he's not going to trade his only star player to get another one.
