Three or four games is on the low end of several.

Not that I don't want him to turn into a Hall of Famer, of course. That would be awesome.

... I didn't say several... I said 4.

Olynyk has been something else these past 4 games.

It seems that he and Sullinger should be starting.  The rise of those 2 players makes a win streak inevitable.  I think we can actually make the playoffs this year if we keep this up.

Oly's recent play (past 4 games) has been insane if you project it out to 36 minutes.

Ok.

There are the numbers (minus the detroit game). Do the math.

Past 4 games:  17.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 22.5 minutes...

Per-36:  28.3 points, 10.4 rebounds... but he's shooting like 60%/60%/90% over the past 4.

He's been ridiculous.  Here's hoping it's a long-term thing and not just a streak.

Dunno if he'll keep it up, but it's good to see.

Same kind of stats he put up last season in gonzaga. He was a model for consistency. I hope it continues

Quote
In his last three games, he has averaged 17.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game which are both significantly better than his season averages of 7.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

As you delve into his most recent stats, it's clear that the biggest change has been an increased opportunity to play.

Olynyk has averaged 18.7 minutes per game this season, although he has seen his playing time increase to 24.2 in Boston's last three games.

In those three games, he has shot 56.3 percent compared to just 41.8 on the season.

Once a reluctant three-point shooter, Olynyk has nailed 55.6 percent of his threes in the last three games, nearly doubling his 28.8 percent shooting numbers for the rest of the season.

Great stats the last several games.

Three or four games is on the low end of several.

Since we're looking at numbers, check out the splits on Kelly between wins and losses:

Olynyk when playing and shooting well reminds me of Bird.  Very savvy, efficient, team oriented.  Bird obviously much better, in part because he had that killer instinct.  Kelly seems to underestimate his scoring ability.  I'd like him to be more aggressive with his shot. I have not seen him play the last several games, looks like his confidence is getting better.

Pretty accurate...like a 7 foot Sue Bird.   She was a better passer, though.  Kelly has nicer hair.

I forgot that it is sacriligious to compare any player who has certain skills that reminds me of Larry Bird, to Larry Bird.  Will try not to do that again. Sorry, Sue.

It's not surprising that multiple players are now becoming consistent and scoring now that we have Rondo playing at a Rondo level.

Olynyk is smart and can run the floor and he is benefiting greatly.

None of this is a surprise to me...always said he would be good for this team.  At the start I said it wouldn't surprise me if Olynyk turns out to he a better player than Sullinger, and it still wouldn't.

Sullinger gas a more common skill set.  He's an overweight, undersized PF who's a very good rebounder and has good touch around the basket.  That's actually not a very rare thing in the NBA.  Think Boozer, Randolf, D West, Big Baby, etc.  Though granted most of those guys aren't overweight, just not super athletic.

Olynyk on the other hand is a 7 foot guy with a good jump shot, three point range, the court vision and passing skills close to that of a point guard, ball handling skills of a small forward, solid rebounding skills, and a very skilled post game.  That's a rare combination of skills, and if he works on conditioning and strength training he has the potential to be a guy who could play anything from small forward to center.

While sully has a clear disadvantage size wise against most NBA PF's and C's, Olynyk's 7'0" frame can partially make up for his lack of supreme lenth.  Basically his skill set allows him to:

a) Shoot the jumper if the defender backs up
b) Put the ball o n the floor against a slower opponent and drive to the basket
C) Post up against smaller opponents in the paint

Also if he gets fouled, he's a solid free throw shooter too.

I'm telling everyone now, this kid could be a very, very nice player if plays his cards right.  Look at Andrea Bargnani - the guy was a legit 20 PPG that for some time, and he has a very similar game to Olynyk.  Olynyk however is a better post player and has a much higher IQ.

Dude's gotta stop lying to himself about his facial hair and shave, though.

Ha yeah.

Pierce's scraggly mess always annoys me too when it gets out of hand.

It's exciting to consider his potential now that he seems to be putting some good games together.

Hopefully, he makes the push the rest of this season to assert himself and become one of the top scorers on the team. That 3 pt and long range jumper is unstoppable. Looks like a very natural stroke. He's crafty around the bucket too.

Let's just pray his D becomes much better than Bargnani . .. considering that his is widely thought of as horrible.

If Kelly's ceiling is Bargs 2.0 that's ok for a late lotto pick. Even with his turrrrrrrible D.

Bargnani's biggest problem has always been Bryan Colangelo.

So what's his excuse on the Knicks?  He had much better years in Toronto.
