Rajon Rondo assigned to the Maine Red Claws

The celtics twitter account just tweeted out that Rondo has been assigned to the Red Claws. I wonder how many games he'll play in the D-League.

Danny Ainge calls it a "brief assignment" according to the WEEI twitter account and "He is going to be called up after today"

If you actually read the press release, it's fairly obvious that, at least for now, this is all about getting in an extra practice, rather than him actually playing in the D-League.

Quoting Ainge from the note: "“This is a brief assignment so that Rajon can participate in a workout this afternoon with the Red Claws and he will be called back up to the Celtics upon the conclusion of the workout.”"

Looks like he had his big workout today (that stevens mentioned yesterday in an interview), and decided he wasn't quit ready for nba action.

Read on twitter the Rondo is in Maine, however, the Red Claws have travelled to Rondo.  The team is in Waltham to scrimmage so that Rondo can get a run in.  He will be reassigned after practice, and likely play Friday night vs the Lakers.
