Jeff Green is a poor man's Rudy Gay.

That said, this season Jeff has been relatively efficient.  45%/39%/80%.  gay's problem is that he's shot horribly this season.  If a player is shooting 38%, he shouldn't be taking 19 shots a night.

Not sure what this is referencing... but Jeff Green is actually a very efficient player with good shot selection. The biggest issue with him is that he does not shoot the ball enough, does not drive to the hoop enough, is not aggressive enough on offense. kind of the opposite of Rudy Gay who is black hole with a horrible offensive efficiency, but is very aggressive looking for his own shot.

So so you believe if the the Celtics trade Green, the Celtics will improve like the teams that have traded Gay?

Man.. can you imagine how awful our offense would be?  Especially once Rondo comes back.  Who would he pass to?... Gerald Wallace?

Gay has been getting in the post more (from what I've read).

Maybe that's what you're referencing?

Playing inside definitely helps a lot. Saw flashes of that today. When JG attacks relentlessly, he's good. I like what he did towards as the game progressed vs. the Bulls. He settled early but started attacking. As a result, we got extra possessions thanks to offensive rebounds and shots being knocked off our opponents. JG showed flashes of being a force.

Stop settling for horrid jumpers.  :-X

I was just looking for a positive contribution that Gay has made to his team.  The best I could come up with is freeing up money and watching the team he leaves improve.

He's paid a lot but doesn't do that much to help his team win, other than the occasional game where he goes off for 30+ points?

Yeah.

Thankfully Green is paid a lot less than Gay is.

The problem with Green is he just does not have the desire to be great. He reminds me of the normal 9-5er who goes to work does a decent job but never gets a raise or promotion because he doesn't have the motivation.

Not even close.

Rudy Gay shoots a lot more, and shoots less efficiently both from 2 point range and 3 point range. That's why he's been such a disaster for the last few years.

Also he doesn't play off the ball well, he's a bad catch and shoot player. Jeff is very good in catch and shoot situations.

sad but I'm actually starting to see that a bit. Green has been inconsistent this season.

I agree - Green is so overrated on this site it's amazing.  He stinks, he is a 4th or 5th best player on a title team...I don't get why people like him so much? Because he is a good dunker? He won't be on this team the next time the C's are contenders again.

Agree with Faf.

I get people have been down on Green but the comparison just isn't very accurate.

It's funny to me how advanced stats told everyone for years that Rudy Gay sucked, and only now are the rest of the NBA and casual fans catching on to it.

Inefficient volume shooters don't help your team, not sure why this is hard to understand. Secondly, even if you shoot with average efficiency, you can still suck if your rebounding, turnovers, fouls, and assists are below average.

That's why I was banging my head against a wall trying to explain to my friends (who are Knicks fans) that Bargnani was actually a downgrade from Novak, and that the Knicks would suck this year. Low efficiency? Check. Can't rebound, block shots, pass the ball, get steals, or do anything that a center is supposed to do? Check. YA BUT HE SCOREZ MOAR POINTS THO

They didn't listen, and now I'm laughing. That said, Novak has played horribly in Toronto so, meh.

I don't think Barg's is a downgrade from Novak/Copleand per se.

I think that giving up a bunch of picks for him when you had those guys was weird, and they seem to think Bargs deserves a bigger role for some reason.
