Makes perfect sense in that he will need the run to get into game shape. The C's are about to head out on the road for about 12 days in which they play 7 games in 10 days. There won't be any practices during that time.

So if the Claws run the same basic sets as the Celtics, why not throw Rondo down there to get some run, get his endurance built up, get his timing down, and have the ability to pull himself and insert himself into the game whenever he wants.

Then about the 13th of January when the C;s start a short three game home stand, Rondo can be reintroduced to the team and start getting some big league playing time.

Back in his prime, he probably would have dropped 20 points a night in the D-League, though.

See, this is what I love.  You actually say this like you believe it.

It's a bit 'off the reservation' but you're consistent.

Sometimes I wonder if you're just trying to be provocative.

Perhaps the strategy is for Rondo to play for Maine, produce some outrageous stats (that he couldn't produce in the NBA), to show he can still play - and then the Celtics could trade him for something decent?
Everyone wants truth on his side, not everyone wants to be on the side of truth.

As long as his ego isn't in a world of hurt, I'd be down with this idea to get him a running start in joining this season.

I think they will showcase them in the D league so they can trade him without impacting our win totals

ABSOLUTELY.

THAT OR STEVENS THINKS RONDO IS D-LEAGUE TALENT/LOCKER ROOM CANCER.

EITHER RONDO GETS TRADED OR HE'S UNTRADABLE LOCKER ROOM CANCER. RELIABLE SOURCES.

well, it's no secret that LarBrd33 hates Rondo. I think if he ever ran into him at an airport he would kick Rondo in the knee and poop in his suitcase.

Well pooping in his suitcase would be the least of Rondo's worries if he ran into LB33.

He's just a fan with an opinion though really, we all understand.

My money is on Rondo.  I think he could beat 95% of people on this board easily.

I think the practice logistics theory is the most likely.  No sense dragging Rondo on the road trip and not having a chance to practice.  He can stay home, run with the Claws, and see where that gets him.

Maybe its cos the Claws are mired in a losing streak and need the help?

Yesterday Blakely expressed skepticism that Rondo would actually end up agreeing to play any games in Maine and cited a couple of other NBA players who had resisted such a rehab assignment.

My guess is that Blakely wouldn't have said that if he hadn't at least heard some kind of rumor, possibly from Rondo or his camp.

My bet is that he practices with the Red Claws but won't actually play any games. Sort of what NY did for Amare. I don't think the big name NBA players are ready for D-league rehabs just because of the stigma of it...it's not a common practice like MLB.
