  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Have you ever seen Charles Barkley play? What part of Sully's game even resembles Barkley? Worst comparison that I keep seeing.
Hey, now. The question was what Sully's ceiling will be, not who he resembles. Nothing wrong with being optimistic.

Fair enough, but in a thread filled with comparisons it's only natural for me to assume it's another one. I don't think Sully will ever be MVP caliber, but anything's possible. I think he will be a borderline all-star at least 2 or 3, so I guess his ceiling is a perennial all-star. Something like a rich man's Carlos Boozer.

i haven't been this excited about a young Celtic since Rondo.  Actually... probably since Big Al.  Big Al's ceiling seemed limitless.

I'm not sure how good Sully can be.  He's still fat.  Will be interesting to see him when he's in shape.  He's the youngest player on our team and statistically the best.

I don't think he's fat like Baby's fat, more like fat the way PP is fat. He's still getting into shape, but I don't know you'll ever see a chiseled body on him.

I think Sully is pretty unique. I can't think someone that he exactly resembles. David West comes to mind but I think West was more lean/athletic than Sullinger is. Sully doesn't strike me as the type that will slim down considerably. He'll always be a little chubby imo. That being said, assuming good health, I think he could be a solid 18 pt, 10 rb guy with solid defense. Pretty good for a pick in the 20's.

I can dig that.  Boozer with defense is kind of what I see as his ultimate ceiling, though Sully also has that deep range.  He could be a heck of a player at his peak.

Which basically means that next year you will be starting your "Its time to trade Sullinger" posts and threads like you did with and continue to do with Rondo?? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sully is 20 years old... we have 3-4 years until we realy know what we have with him.  And you always take a star big over a star PG.

Tell ya what... if Sully proves to be a flawed fringe star, blows out his ACL 7 years from now and the team is in "rebuild mode"... it might be time to trade Sully.

I doubt you're going to claim that you were opposed to trading Rondo before his knee injury. And all fringe stars are flawed, some people don't notice because the flaws are less obvious (or less discussed) than Rondo's.

I'm starting to think it might be a vaulted ceiling. Needs to work on his consistency (hopefully by the end of the year this 19/10 stuff will be the norm.)

Really I'm a bit surprised by Sullinger. Didn't think he'd have the potential to have this much... Potential. Ha.

He has a surprisingly wide array of scoring moves. His ceiling is pretty high.

This is what struck me after I put together that list of comps above. Most of the other guys were primarily jump shooters with relatively weak post games, or vice versa.

Sully has a pretty well-balanced offensive portfolio, and is also developing a credible 3pt game to boot.

This all makes me really impressed by Stevens' push to have Sully shoot more 3s. If he can do that he will have a level of offensive versatility that is pretty unique...

Really the only player who seems similar offensively is Kevin Love.

I dunno if Sully's ever going to score 25 points a game like Love, but he's already an accomplished scorer and he's only 21 years old.

In terms of general ability, I think he can be the second or third best player on really good teams.  In there kind of like Bosh or Rondo.  In terms of more comparability, I think he has the shots/moves like Boozer but more rebounds.  I predict that Sullinger will make a few all star teams.

The biggest risk is injury but watching him this year, I think he may turn out more durable than expected.

If he can really nail down that 3, 20/10 player with multiple all star selections in the near future IF he stays healthy (and I see no reason why he wouldn't)

A cross between Boozer and Love. People forget how good Boozer was when he had a heart. 20/10 in his prime. Should have been a top 5 pick in 2012 if he didn't have the back issue.

Thing about sully is his propensity to come up big in crunch time. Really shows a back for making a big impact when it matters most.
With a rim protecting center and a compliment of capable slashers and shooters I'd say his ceiling is a champion.

Boozer had a history of weight issues too.
