Olynk has been okay so far, I was hoping for slightly more but hes only a rookie. What happens in this next draft is very important for the future of our team though.
If we stand pat with or picks, I'm afraid this team is going to be caught in the middle for two years running, which isn't going to help anyone. Danny's going to have to make some serious moves and get this team some talent.
Make a trade to win now or package assets and move up in the draft, I think its clear he has to do something.
I'd rather not wait through two mediocre seasons for him to do it.
This is the problem with the NewBA (and the world for that matter), people just don't have patience anymore. It's like ANY team can pull a Celts and Mia and win in a season or two after forming. It's actually hard to win a chip, if you didn't know. If people expect a rookie (a big a that) to already be a finished product I don't know what to tell you! KO isn't who he is yet, he recently became a big, sure you can dominate other kids who aren't who they will grow to be but it's another story facing grown men who have learned the game! Let Doo and them get a hold of KO during the off-season and see what he does next season. Even Sully admits that his play right now is all natural ability because he has yet to have a chance to work on his game during off-season (I can't wait! He's already a MONSTA).
I never expected Olynk to be Tim Duncan his rookie year but at the same time he hasn't been impressive, but like I said hes a rookie.
Also if you read what I said it has nothing to do with "patience" it has everything to do with a team treading water with no direction. The team doesn't really have a plan currently as far as I can see.
Am I willing to wait? Obviously, I doubt anyone on a Celtics forum is going to bolt on a team if they are bad for any amount of time.
All I said was I want my favorite team to pick a direction. If management feels they can win now, which the players obviously believe they do then fine, make some moves to win now with all of our mid value future assets.
If they don't believe they can win now then I'd like them to make a move to get something of real value, we have many mid round picks and decent veterans that benefit a team that is in a win now mode, but nothing that will bring in real talent unfortunately. I'd like DA to package his picks with some combination of JG or AB to try and move up in the draft.
I don't think being concerned that the team lacks direction and that they will stay in the middle for two years and then make a decision relates to patience, just common sense.
