As a starter, Crawford is averaging around 14 points and 6 assists.  Those aren't all-star numbers.

Kyrie, Wall, Jennings, Teague, and MCW are all well ahead of him.

Those numbers are skewed down right now though, Roy. What are his averages including his percentages since becoming a starter?

I think you missed the first three words of my post. ;)

So what you posted is limited to starting numbers. My mistake.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I just looked at Jordan's per 36 and compared it to Kyrie Irving's.

Outside of points per game and FT attempt, Crafword's numbers are better than Uncle Drew's. Crawford also is only four points (16.6) behind Kyrie's (20.6) per 36, but J-Craw is taking SEVEN less shots (12.9 to Kyrie's 19.2).

Isn't that crazy!?

There is something to be said about efficiency

If two years ago I told you the name "Jordan Crawdford" and the word efficiency are becoming synonymous how quick would I have had my posting privileges revoked?
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

Jeff Teague and Jennings are still significantly outplaying him, although I agree with the sentiment that neither of them scream All-Star caliber much more than Crawford.  Same with MCW.  Wall and Irving are locks over him.

The list of players he has to worry about doesn't end there.  Afflalo, DeRozan, Evan Turner, Rudy Gay, Luol Deng, Josh Smith, and Joe Johnson all have decent cases over Crawford (and LeBron/George/Melo don't leave a lot of room for perimeter players).  Also Wade will at least be voted in no matter what his health is.

In fact, Crawford doesn't even have much separation from guys like Kemba Walker, Rodney Stuckey, OJ Mayo, Kyle Lowry, and Lance Stephenson.

So basically that's 21 perimeter players Crawford isn't better than off the top of my head, and only 6-7 spots on the team.  13 of the 21 are PGs or play-making guards.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I was a huge proponent of Crawford getting the nod at pg before the season started and he has done an excellent job, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Wall and Irving are locks and if a 3rd pg is picked up, it will probably be Teague.

I love the guard rotation, though, and am very happy Crawford seems to have increased his effort and efficiency.

Sorry, it's a nice thought, but it isn't going to happen.

Another two months of play like this and he could squeak in as an injury replacement.

JCrawford has showed me wrong.

I stand corrected.  Used to call him "crazy" Crawford, and he is still guffy, but got to appreciate what he has done.

He'll get offers for sure....

If he builds  the C's record back up into the positive side with nice playoff seed ......why not?

Even at current levels of play he's nowhere near all-star consideration.

He's basically just a league average starting point guard that's a lot of fun to watch because of the crazy floaters and threes.

Which, given previous expectations, is a massive and welcome improvement.

Great words from a great man

I buy that... he's averaged 20, 7 and 5 over the past 5 games on 50%/43%/83% shooting... if he continues THAT for another 2 months and the Celtics continue to win 80% of their games, he's an all-star selection.

But that aint happenin.

Sure, because there are so many other point guards that are around 20/5/7 on teams that win about 80% of their games...

wut?

Do you expect Crawfish to continue to average 20/5/7 for the next 2 months?
