This guy is now officially my favorite Celtic

Jared Sullinger: "We just want to win and show everybody that they can kiss our butts about that tanking stuff."

The pro-tankers can put that in their pipe and smoke it ;)

Here's more on the story

I don't think anyone expected a player to say otherwise? To me this seems like a non-story.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

It probably is. I just figured fans who either want to see the Celts do well this year and/or fans who just genuinely like Sullinger, might be interested in seeing the article.

Thats true, it is good to see sullinger maintains his positive attitude through a tough season.

A player who says they embrace tanking is not a guy you'd want on your team. It's management's job to put them in a position to fail, the player's job is to fail despite trying to succeed.

And so far...looks good! Couple of notes for Danny, could use less resilience, but overall looks good. Love the quote from Sully, wouldn't want anything else.

It'll be amusing thinking about these quotes when Sully is playing next to Parker or Wiggins next year, and perhaps even winning a title next to Parker or Wiggins sometime in the next decade.

Also true. Probably wouldn't look good if he came out and said "we don't want to win any more games this season then you can count on one hand" (lol)

I will be very disappointed if we end up in a position for either of those guys . . . unless, of course, it is thanks to Brooklyn or Atlanta . . . or unless we really buck the odds from the 13th or 14th place in the lottery.

DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Yeah, I just think it's becoming increasingly impossible to land a Parker, Wiggins or Randle with how bad the NBA is this year. Hell, it's looking like the Knicks might even end up with a top 5 pick for crying out loud.

By the way, you were certainly right over the summer about supporting Sully. I was ready to see him traded for a cup of coffee but he's come back into shape, played his butt off and maintained a positive attitude.

Goes to show what I know ;D

For real?  You'll be disappointed if we end up with Parker or Wiggins?

I understand that you'd prefer to see the team win 35 games and get bounced in the 1st round, but if it comes to pass that on lottery day our team's logo comes out of one of the three envelopes, you're going to be disappointed?

Okay, I see that you said "in position" for one of those three guys.  I understand that.  But if we've already reached that point, and we have a good shot at getting a top pick, I feel like you can't be that disappointed.  Sure, it will mean that this team fell short of your expectations.  But a top pick in any draft, but especially this draft, is an awfully nice consolation prize.

Being in position for Parker or Wiggins doesn't even have to mean the young guys that matter let us down.

Rondo, Sullinger, Bradley, and Olynyk could all play quite well and give us reason for optimism the rest of the season and the team could still end up with fewer than 30 wins.

Thankfully, that pick won't be going to the Knicks.

If the Knicks, Nets, Pistons and Bulls don't turn it around, I'm gonna be steamed. One good year out of the Nets, man...at least better than the Cs. Come on.

Interesting question -- would the Celtics actually be worse this season if we had kept Pierce and Garnett?

I think there's an argument to be made there.  It would mean Doc sticking around, Terry still playing significant minutes, Garnett limping around taking minutes that would otherwise be played by Sully or Bass, and Pierce still trying to carry the offense.

Valid point. I just threw up a little because it might be true, but valid point. Sucks seeing KG and Pierce struggle. I would gladly trade the Nets pick if it meant that KG and Pierce got one more throwback fountain of youth year and stuck it to Miami.

What if the Nets trade hadn't been made and Ainge had worked out a sign-and-trade for Paul Millsap?
