Who was padding stats last night?  Please point them out I would love to see.
It wasn't happening.
I think it's pretty obvious who he was talking about, there was only one guy with stats good enough to be considered padded.  How often are rookies able to grab 18 boards their second game?  I'd assume he's talking about Vitor positioning himself for the rebound at the cost of helping his teammates on defense (whereas KG would always do the opposite).  Meanwhile Sullinger, a guy who has earned minutes and a chance to prove himself, only played 10 minutes despite scoring 10 points and getting to the line 7 times in his first 6min.

Wallace probably thinks he's sticking up for his NBA teammates who had to risk everything to get where they are against a guy who started signing pro contracts when he was 14 and thinks he came here to earn bigger money.

I have no clue if he's right, but Wallace clearly has 1000x more of an inside scoop than any of us, and there's no reason for him to talk crap unless he's seen/heard something.

There is no such thing as padding stats for rebounds.  It's only good.  There was no one padding stats.

Vitor played a great game, much better than Wallace.
There's definitely padding stats for rebounds, that's undisputed.  There's also padding stats for blocks.  These things aren't always good for the defense, see Sean Williams or Kevin Love.

I'm not saying Vitor is doing this, I'm just saying that's obviously who Wallace is talking about with 18 boards and 6 blocks.  On the other hand, the signs are there.  He's a rookie who obviously wants to prove himself.  I saw him steal the ball right out of the hands of Bradley with no defenders around.  I also saw him leave Sanders alone on the baseline to needlessly help on the rookie Greek PG in the paint while Sanders cut behind him for a guaranteed dunk.  He has a bit of a "show-off" mentality by catching every FT pass with one hand.

The "starter sitting in the 4th" is Sully who only played 10min.
That's hilarious.

Is this Gerald Wallace's way of misdirecting us from the fact that he chucked five three-point attempts in spite of being possibly the worst outside shooter on the team?

What questionable conclusions?

I think it good is a questionable conclusion that players were padding their stats.  The team clearly didn't execute down the stretch but I feel that is just because they aren't that good.  To apply some underlying motive is in my opinion a very questionable conclusion by Wallace and not something he should be shooting his mouth off about after he has played two games with the team.

And for the record, I was in a chair, not on the couch.

Amazing display of unselfish ball by the nets last night. Stevens should sit all of his guys and make them watch the game

Incontestable apparently.

You know, WHAT-EVER.

It's not like this team can get much worse.   But of course if it does, then good!  Get Wiggins or JParker, lol.

TP and completely agree.
Its a non-issue for me. I don't really care about the stat-padding, and I don't really care about Wallace calling the team out (to the media or not). I do want to see player development (that's about all to look forward to this season). But other than that, I don't really care.

I like AB, but guys have to go solo if he is playing PG because he is a bad passer.

Padding rebound stats is easy. If you don't close out on a shooter defensively, run guys off the three point line, or attempt to challenge players underneath the basket just to ensure position for a rebound that's stat padding. If you grab for rebounds even after other team mates have called the rebound, that's stat padding. If you hang out around the basket looking for long rebounds instead of breaking downcourt or heading to the outlet pass area because that is your responsibility, that's stat padding for rebounds.

Not saying it happened in the last game. Just saying stat padding of rebounds is possible and happens.

Calling himself out in the media will look stupid
Calling his team mates out in the media will look like a veteran leader pushing the young guys to give it all

and the worst shooter will still be Lee  :P

Airing out team problems to the press isn't leadership.  It's being a jack-hole.

This is the second time I've had to thank you in this thread for making my point.  It's also padding rebounds if you're between your man and the basket so he can't box you out when you're supposed to be between him and the ball, denying him.  There are plenty of ways to position yourself for the rebound if you're not doing exactly what you're supposed to in the defensive scheme.

Same thing with blocks.  If you're leaving your man to help in the wrong situations, you're putting that block ahead of your team.  Even if the man you left doesn't score, you're opening up an offensive rebounding opportunity or an open 3.

Positioning yourself for a block or rebound is great, as long you're more focused on positioning yourself for the stop first.  When you're the only man in the paint sometimes you have bigger responsibilities.  No one's saying a block or rebound isn't always good, Snakehead, but it's ridiculous to insinuate that they get that block/rebound every time, or that there's not more important things the coach wants them doing.  For example, BC's defense was worse with Sean Williams on the court despite him blocking 5 shots per game.

Positioning is literally the most important thing in basketball, I can't believe people are willing to completely lose sight of it for the sake of what's on paper.

Maybe Wallace should consider padding his own stats.

27% shooting and 4.5 turnovers isn't helping the winning cause.
