at this point with Pierce/Garnett gone its the only way to go with a supposedly loaded draft coming up.

if we can get a top 5 pick and land an all-star calibar player to put besides rondo we are alot closer to getting back to contending.

I dont think Ainge is going to totally rely on the draft...he's got chips and I expect him to try and make trades next year to improve the team.

But, this year is going to be brutal...we have alot of roleplayers but no real stars....I suggest if you want to watch good basketball dont watch too many celtics games.

With a top 5 pick in the next draft to go alongside Rondo, I think we can turn it around VERY quickly.

I'm not buying it.  This team has got the talent to be in contention for a playoff spot by the end of the season.

I still think we'll end up winning at least 35 games.
Ha, Ha, very funny!  What evidence is there that this team will win more than 20 games???

Some of my evidence is that I truly believe that Rondo will back either late in November or very, very early in December.  I think once he does, he will change the whole dynamic of this team.  This team is built to be a high pace, running team.  I believe this style will suit Rondo perfectly.  He'll get everybody involved.  We'll finally have someone who can make plays and set everybody up for easy looks.

I think that Kelly Olynyk will look much better in a month or so, and that his game will nicely complement what this team is trying to do.

Hopefully, Gerald will stop being such a meanie, and just keep balling, hustling and leading.  Along with Avery, Courtney, and Rondo on the wings, they'll be a nightmare for the opposition defensively.

Sully will figure out where he fits.

Jeff Green will keep running the break and getting easy buckets, in his gliding-to-the-rim-like-Worthy fashion.

Over all, I think they'll be fun to watch.  I think the young coach has a plan, and it will come to fruition with a little patience.

I don't know that I'd call any of this hard "evidence" as much as I'd call it a theory.  But, it's my theory, and I'm sticking to it.
Sorry theories don't cut it.  You have to play defense and you need TALENT.  Otherwise you are totally correct.

I agree that you need talent and defense to win games.  I was trying to explain that I believe we have both.

We'll have to wait and see.  Although it may not be satisfactory to you, at least I've attempted to explain my reasoning for why I think this team can win 35 games.  You've failed to do the same.  Unless you think that simply mocking any conflicting opinion actually amounts to an argument of any kind.
Yes, I am doing that, but my evidence is 0-2, plus if you watched the Heat-Nets game you would see why.

0-2 start not evidence that we are tanking. I agree that we can be in contention for a playoff spot. As of now, we have the talent, but lack the experience...

its either we tank for wiggins or we stay mediocre forever. which is your choice?

we've been telling you these choices all summer and you refused to believe it.

Well, we're definitely tanking, that should have been obvious the moment the trade with the Nets went down.

But the two choices you propose are definitely not the only two options.  You don't always need to tank to get good again, and tanking only works a small percentage of the time.  This is as risky as any other way of attempting to rebuild.

it's obvious this team is tanking guys....when you trade 2 of your top 3 players for roleplayers and picks you are tanking

"Tanking" seems to be such a subjective term.
*CB Miami Heat*

i'll put it this way....are we purposely losing games? no...the team tried to win both losses.

but they arent put together to win...they are a team with a bunch of roleplayers and no real star..all good "complimentary" guys for a contending team with stars to carry the load you cant win with that in the NBA

This sort of team, if they heavily rely upon the 3pt shot, will win 1 out of 3 games.

Wiggins isn't good enough to turn us around. Not that we will get him anyway. We'll get the number 5 pingpong ball knowing our luck.

This draft is loaded though Even if we got the #5 ball we could still get Jabari or Randle or even Smart if we elected to trade Rondo.

I didn't say that.  I only said that 0-2 is evidence that they suck, not that they are tanking. Big difference.  Read the string carefully!

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed, and hope we get Exum or Parker. Or trade Sullinger and someone else for Randle... Sigh.... It hurts my soul to watch us suck and tank on purpose, but oh well.

Unless that someone else is Rondo, that is just not happening.

What ever happened to team just being bad?

I don't see the tank.  I see a team that realized they we on the down slope and decided to see what rebuilding pieces they could get for their best, older players.

The Celtics are a talent light team.

Green is who he is.  A nice player, but not the star.

Wallace, a player on the slide that has plays all out at all time.

Bass, a role player on a good team that needs to be more.

Everyone else of importance, young guys that are learning their way in the NBA.

I do hope the Celtics use the Rose plan for Rondo.  Make sure he is 100% physically and mentally before they put him out there.  There is no reason with this team to put him out there at 75%, even if the doctors say it will be OK.

But I don't see the Celtics tanking.  I see a terrible team with one true building block injured on the bench, and a bunch of replaceable NBA mid level talent.

I'm not claiming that we looked good in the first two games.  To be honest, I didn't really expect us to.  I do expect the team to get better as the season progresses, though.  No, we don't have a lot of star power outside of Rondo, but we do have some solid role players who will fit in well around Rondo.

I'm just hoping we can weather the early storm without falling apart from a team cohesion standpoint.
