I don't think he has been outside at the three "so often" but the fact is this team is going to need to shoot threes a lot to compete, IMO.  We don't have players who can really reliably go to the rim or create for others right now so we have to space the floor very well.

Also, a three pointer would be a good addition to Sully's game.  He has a mechanically sound shot.  In a year where virtually nothing is on the line, I don't mind him working on that in game.

I've always thought if all goes well Sully could be Kevin Love-esque.  And part of that package is obviously three point shooting.  In my eyes, nothing to be critical of right now.

Good point re "nothing to lose" with regards to this season and therefore if Sully can work on improving his three point shot this year and could benefit him long term, similar to Love, as you mention. I get that.

Over the long haul though for me, I see him as more of a bar brawler in the paint and lean more towards playing him at PF and alongside Faverani or whoever becomes our long term center.

I think he'll end up doing the most damage down there over time.   

It's hard to get Sully in the post when he is playing center and being defended by someone much bigger than him. Sully doesn't have the explosiveness to frequently beat his check in that situation.

I'd like to see Sully get more playing time alongside Faverani (C) so that Sully (PF) can be matched up against more PFs where he often has a strength advantage inside. Get him in the post more often. And fighting for offensive rebounds.

Yes, I agree with this, it is about match-ups.  If he is playing center though, and being covered by a 7-footer, that would be the time to use the 3-pint weapon to go out to the perimeter and pull the other team's big guy out away from the basket.

If he is being covered by a more traditional PF, then maybe the better approach is to bang down low.  I think the point is that the versatility is a weapon and an asset, so why not try to use it when it makes sense to do so.
