No. Nothing's changed- still think we compete for playoff spot. 37-42 wins.

We knew we were tanking the season as soon as kg and pierce were traded.  It is what it is...  If this team manages to win 30 it's a massive overachievement

I wonder whether there's a bias in the responses here. Will people whose expectations were very different from what they're seeing respond?

I can only think of a couple posters who thought this team was a playoff contender and only one of them posted so far.  He still thinks they are in the hunt.  The other one is lurking right now...

I don't think there are only two of us.  I'll agree that we are a distinct minority, though.  I don't mind that.

I can't say that my expectations have really changed.  I guess I'm leaning towards 20 wins rather than 25-30.

I hoped we would be fighting for a playoff spot, and I still hope so.  42 wins, even if it means overachieving.  Not actively tanking!  Like I said somewhere else, I would rather be wrong guessing high than right guessing low.  I will not give up on the Celtics, and I hope they won't give up either.

42 games....is one better than 50%.

Nope.

They suck, and I knew they'd suck.  Maybe when Rondo comes back they can at least be respectable.

I thought this team could win 35-40 games depending how quickly and completely Rondo returned, which would give them a chance to make the playoffs, since I bet a team with a losing record will make it from the East.  My expectations are somewhat tempered, but I still think if Rondo comes back at the end of November/beginning of December this team can get to 35 wins.  There are a lot of bad teams this year, especially in the East, and many more mediocre ones, whom the Celtics should at least be evenly matched with once Rondo is on the court.

Mind you, 35-40 wins is sort of an "if everything goes right" kind of ceiling, so if there's another key injury, or a player like Olynyk or Wallace isn't as good as I hoped, then sure, I'd expect less.  And I won't be surprised if that happens.  But given my current knowledge of the team and hope for Rondo's return by December, I'll stay at 35-40.

The reality is that for perhaps as much as the first two months of the season, this will be a team whose best players are Gerald Wallace, Jared Sullinger, and Kelly Olynyk.

So even if you think this is a .500 caliber team with Rondo, they'll probably be in an enormous hole by the time he returns; this is a 10-15 win team without him.

That translates to a win total significantly below 30.

Then factor in the very solid chance that Ainge will trade off one or more of the veteran players -- perhaps even Rondo himself.  This won't be the worst team in the league, but they won't be far off.

That depends on when Rondo returns.  If he misses say no more than twenty games, and we think this is a .500 team with him, then that equals 31 wins.  If we can pull out just 5 of the first twenty without him, then that equals 36 wins for the season.

I'd prefer to get over forty and a playoff berth, but I'll take 35 or 36 wins.

Stevens set his final rotations too late. But the last win of the pre season was encouraging to see.

As ppl can see also, stevens is not playing to tank and def not ordered to. If true, he put guys like humphries, jcraw, brooks in games way more. We lose games , up their values so that we could get even better for the future. Instead if you cant help the team win, if your on the minus side of the stats and play selfish basketball, it doesnt matter how long yu benn in the league , you are going to play little.

Breathe of fresh air vs ml carr lets get duncan campaign

Imo i still think this team will win 40 and contend for one of the last playoff spots. We will see the true genius of stevens as soon as the regular season starts

That's a lot to read into the preseason, as far as rotations go.

I don't think the Celtics are actively tanking in the style of the Suns or the 76ers, but I'm sure it's not a coincidence that our roster is, uh, lacking with what is expected to be a really nice draft class looming.

we are obviously Tanking---why else would Danny NOT be making moves..? This Roster balance SUCKS---Something must be done--unless you, don't want to win right now.

Stevens seems to more about making friends with his NBA players---than being in charge...I am worried---not even looking forward to watching games-although I have league pass once again.
