I would like them to start

G: A.Bradley
G: C.Lee
F: J.Green
F: J.Sullinger
C: V.Faverani

With Gerald Wallace as the first sub in for Faverani 5-7 minutes into the first quarter with Sully sliding over to center and G-Wallace playing PF in a small lineup. Get more defensive quickness (Boston's main strength defensively) and floor spacing to better open up their (limited) offense.

When J.Green comes out, G.Wallace can slide back to SF with Olynyk coming in for J.Green. Humphries as backup center. Pressey and J.Crawford as backup guards. Bass as fifth big in the rotation. Bogans as fifth wing.
whoah!!!
redo your lineup when rondo is back
you must be looking to trade bass....

Rondo takes over as starting PG. I want to see Bradley and Rondo start alongside one another. To see if that backcourt can regain and sustain it's strong play from the end of the 2011-12 season. So Bradley moves to starting SG while Courtney Lee moves to the bench and takes over the backup SG slot. Jordan Crawford becomes a third string instant offense combo guard. I would keep Pressey as backup PG for now.

If playing Gerald Wallace at PF, one of the bigs has to lose his court time. It came down to either Bass or Olynyk. I think the other three need to be in the rotation for their interior play. Not convinced Olynyk is better than Bass just yet but Olynyk needs playing time to develop so I choose him over Bass. I like Bass as a backup PF (above average backup PF). Just a lack of available minutes. I'd love it if Danny Ainge could trade Bass for a veteran backup PG so Pressey could move to third string PG.

I don't see why not,   Who else 7 do we have who is a real center.

Year after year the celtics have no young starting calibre center. ???

Small all don't work for us, we don't have Lebron James.

I'd be fine with it if he's playing around 20 minutes.  It probably is the best option vs their starter.

Definitely.  Two immediate benefits from starting Vitor and moving Sully to PF:
1.  We gain the size necessary to match-up with the rest of the NBA.
2. We free Sully from the shackles of guarding/facing big guys that he struggles against on both ends. I think he'll be a much better rebounder/scorer at the 4.

Meanwhile it'll give us a chance to see more of what we have with Vitor.  I like how he runs the floor, catches passes, and finishes in the paint, and he's shown some nice tools in the post.  Not so crazy about the jumper, but he seems to like it.

It remains to be seen what kind of defender he is, but for now it really only matters that he's big enough for the job (more than you can say for anyone else on the team).
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

i think that will happen occasionally during this season. We need a proper C so badly. However at times during the pre season games, I can see him looking a bit confused out there on court. So perhaps he need a bit more time to get use to NBA and also the language barrier before he play more minutes.

Sure would.

Right now Faverani is averaging about 16 points, 10 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per 36 minutes.

Unlike Olynyk and Sullinger he's not averaging 6 fouls per 36 minutes, so all signs indicate he could actually stay on the court long enough to put up some pretty solid numbers.

More importantly, what are the alternatives?

* Sullinger or Bass?  We saw last season how much we suck with them at center.

* Olynyk?  At 7 fouls per 36 minutes, I doubt he can stay on the court long enough to be a starter,

* Humphries?  Maybe, but he does lack size.

Fav isn't a superstar by any means, but right now he is the best center we have.

Yes.  He's the only center on the roster.

Qestion - why Lee as a starter?

Has he not been our absolute worst player this preseason?

Was he not one of our top 3 worst players for all of last season?

Lee is one of the worst players I have every watched in a Celtics jersey.  It pains me every time I see his name on a roster.  He needs to be gone...I'd trade him for just about anything right now...hell I'd trade him for a Miami Heat second round pick just to get rid of him.

Courtney Lee is the best player out of the remaining guards. He is the only plus defensive player of the group. He is a well rounded offensive player (for a role player) with good ball-handling ability, long range shooting (long twos and threes), transition play and he can finish around the basket.

I am not as down on Courtney Lee as many others are. He could have played better last season but I do not think he played as badly as some others do. His preseason has been bad but I don't put much stock in preseason when evaluating a guy who almost 400 games of NBA experience under his belt.

Pressey, J.Crawford and M.Brooks are all inadequate defensive players. M.Brooks and J.Crawford have consistently hurt their own teams more than they have helped them over the course of their careers. I think all three of them are ideally suited to being third stringers (next season anyway). Unfortunately, due to Boston's lack of depth in the backcourt, two of those three will need to play regular minutes while Rondo is out and one of them will remain once Rondo returns.

What is the  argument against starting him?  Kris Humphries?   Absolutely start Vitor -- if not on Day 1, then pretty soon.
