He will obviously help, but with the lack of reliable wing 3 pt shooters on this roster plus Green's inconsistency, I don't see it making a huge difference in the Won-Loss record.  But I also think Danny knows this and is fine with it.

He will take this team from sure fire high lottery team to 6-10 games under .500.

I think Rondo makes this team 5-10 wins better.  So I predict they'll win 20-25 games.

He makes his teammates better, so when he comes back and gets in 100% game shape, you can bet the team will win more games.

But he's not the only factor to consider. Coach Stevens is a rookie, and he is implementing his system in the pros for the first time. Then you have all the new guys, the rookies... There's no doubt this team will be much better in March/April than in November.

If there are no significant trades, they'll lose a lot until February, and then improve until playing .500 ball at the end of the season. 26 to 34 wins is my guess.

A healthy Rondo would have a huge impact on this team.  His ball-handling, court vision and quick decision-making would fill huge voids in the team's current offense.

Currently our guards generate almost no dribble penetration, struggle to run a pick and roll/pop and have exceptionally poor passing ability, court vision and decision making.  This forces AB, Jeff Green and Gerald Wallace into primary shot-creating roles on the perimeter - and they are terrible at it.  Look at their shooting numbers: 38%, 33% and 41% respectively.  Disastrous.

It's also putting pressure on Sullinger and our bigs to shoot 3s, as the guards aren't capable of generating looks for them near the basket or making basic entry passes.  Right now Sully, KO and Faverani are a combined 6/30 from deep.  Take away those shots and they'd be shooting a healthy 53%.

And a guy like Bass, who depends on guard penetration for his looks, has almost completely disappeared offensively other than a few misguided post-ups and whatever scraps he can get off the boards.

Having Rondo will allow our horde of roleplayers to start playing to more of their strengths.  Bradley can go off-ball (he's been our best spot-up shooter, just no one has created for him), Wallace and Green can fill in as secondary slashers, spot-up shooters and post-up players. Bass will be able to get his pick and pop plays.  Sully can get a decent post entry pass.  High efficiency guys like KO can get more shots and low-efficiency guys like Crawford and Brooks will play less.

From lottery team to a 6-8 seed..but no one knows how he's going to look when he comes back or  if it'll be too late anyways

Rondo could play the whole season and we wouldn´t win 30 games.

I think his impact on our W/L-record will be miniscule.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

This team can't score, can't rebound, and have absolutely no interior defense.

Rondo, who was apart of a bottom 10 offense with KG and Paul Pierce, isn't going to get this team out from the cellar.

They'd still be a fringe playoff team with a healthy, motivated, smart-playing Rondo, but that's probably the best-case; 40-42 wins.  Add Rondo in to the mix and they may be able to score a little, I know the offense sucked for most of last year even with him but when we see Good Rondo it's a thing of beauty.  Still too many issues defensively and in the middle for that team to win more than half its games, though.

Better offensively, especially in transition offense. However, our biggest weakness (interior defense) is so glaring that his impact probably won't show much in terms of wins and losses.

I think we win between 15-25 games without him.  I think if he comes back we win between 25-38.

There's a lot of people who think we'd be better off winning 15 games than winning 38 games.
I would agree with this.

We'd be out of the playoffs either way, so I think I'd take 38.

The big difference Rondo makes with the current roster is he will be able to get them into our offensive sets more efficiently once he gets some floor time with them. That doesnt mean they will score more efficiently. We still lack any consistent knock down shooters and the scorer to draw the double team. He can only do so much.

On the defensive end, Rondo is a better defender than Pressey obviously and is comfortable playing with Bradley and Lee because he knows where they will be and what they can do.

He already has some comfort level with the guards above, Green, Bass and Sullinger. He will quickly get in sync with Wallace and Humphries because they are veterans. The problem is that he doesnt have a 'go to' guy so he will have to maximize his part of the offensive execution.

Personally, I expect him to take his time this year learning to play with the new roster that survives the trade deadline and getting in shape rehabbing his injury.

He is capable of making us 10-15 wins better if all the parts perform and everyone stays healthy. Whether that is from 15-30 or 25-40 is anyones guess.

He hurts the team ,  winning a few games is a moral victory  for loyal fans.... but not helpful in the pursuit of a lottery pick.

Let Rondo mend .

this thread asks a good question. clearly, the celtics are better with rondo, but the total story is probably more complex than just assuming rondo = X number of wins.

let's keep in mind as we talk about rondo and wins, last year the celtics had a BETTER record WITHOUT rondo then with rondo, and i believe the celtics has a losing record in games with rondo.

so i am curious to see the data that emerges in this thread in support of either side.
