So this best passing big thing is a really interesting idea.

In the last 30 years, only 5 bigs (F-C) have averaged at least 5 assists a game.

Webber (twice)
Vlade
Schrempf
Jeff Ruland
And

Boris. Diaw.

I love saying the name Detlef Schrempf, and I loved watching him play, but he was no Big.

I agree with you, but he showed up in the BR search as a F-C so I figured he warranted an inclusion.

Plus he played some 4. Like Chandler Parsons (also not a big).

More importantly, Boris Diaw averaged 6.2 assists a game once.

I miss those phoenix teams.

It's too bad Boris could never seem to lay off the beouf bourguignon and the crepes.  He could have been so much better.

KG also averaged 5+ assists per game from 1999-2005.

Brad Miller has gotten close (4.7).

Among current players I think the Gasols are pretty good passers too. Both have averaged more than 4 apg at times.

And like others have said KG is on the list. (He is listed as just "F" on Bkref, which is a bit odd). Malone was pretty close, averaging more than 4 apg for 7 years.

I'm actually surprised Sabonis is not on that list. He was one of the best passing bigs in the game.

Anthony Mason, Lamar Odom, 'Toine, Barkley; to name some others.  There's probably a few more that BBR missed.

That one's probably on the search limits--I was trying to stick with "bigs," so I searched for players listed as F-C, C, C-F.

If you add in F to that list, it gets much bigger, but you have a lot more wings (Bird, TMac, Grant Hill, etc.):

It just shows that the system you are using has some flaws.  I would consider all the guys that I listed more as "bigs" than Detlef Schrempf.

- Suddenly he is hitting the threes.

- Jcraw and Olynyk suddenly becoming a deadly 1-2 punch?

- Olynyk at times is too unselfish. But in general its a good thing for the team. Directly or indirectly the open guy seems to get the ball. I don't remember the last time the team took a bad shot (except the one or two freebee Jcraw is allowed)

Good to see the that the threes are going in now. They were always pretty close, he mostly back-rimmed them iirc. It'll be huge if he can hit one of every three.

Agreed.

Also: Boris Diaw averaged 6.2 assists.

I liked that Olynyk was looking to drive and create off the 3-pt line, but I wished he'd take a couple more, Vucevic was generally too slow to get out there.

And I like him much better when he's taking Garnett-style 16-18 ft jumpers. These look considerably more natural for him.

I agree, but as young as he is I'm comfortable with him trying to develop the more efficient weapon.  See if he can successfully lengthen his range before abandoning the 3.

From how he was looking to drive it's possible Stevens was encouraging him to draw a big out and try and go past him to put pressure on the D.  Which is good too, but he needs that shot to keep the D honest in the long run.

I was impressed when he went baseline with his offhand (left) before dishing it to Sullinger.
