If Green starts performing consistently (and I am not talking about superstar numbers; even though on this team he has every chance to put up those kind of stats, but I am talking about ~~15/6/3 kind of production), I will be glad to eat crow. But he has had enough time to prove his worth and I just don't see it.
He did that for 2 1/2 seasons straight before he came here. Why are you acting like Green has been a 8-10 PPG his whole career? When has he had enough time to prove
anything? Sounds like you are completely biased and not giving his stint here a fair shake.
The kid was thrown into the fire for his first half season here and was asked to work within the flow of an offense where players were p---ed that Perk was traded. Next season he didn't even play at all because he was out with a heart surgery. Taking this into account, for some reason, I have the feeling you expected him to come out playing like gangbusters this past season..even though he had a full year off from the NBA grind and was having trouble with the speed of the game for the first few months.
Then he goes on a tear when he was
expected to finally be up to speed in February posting a
consistent (like you want) 16-17 PPG for the last three months of the season. Then he stepped up his game a bit more and averaged 20 PPG in the playoffs.
Yet somehow in your eyes he has been terribly inconsistent with all these chances he has been given (still scratching my head on this one). Again, his first full season with us was just this past season, and it was right after heart surgery recovery. He was absolutely consistent for the final 3-4 months of the season.
Hell Jeff Green's career averages are only 1 point off of what you want from him for him to be deemed a consistent player. That includes the throw away half season with us and his rookie year, which is 1.5 seasons out of the 5 seasons he has played. So Jeff Green has actually been a 15-16/5-6 kind of guy more
often than not in his short career so far. He did it 2.5 seasons in OKC and half a season here.
Finally, I honestly have no idea what to expect from Green this season, but lets not pretend he has been a wildly inconsistent player for the majority of his short (very short) career. He's barely even played in Boston.
