People need to STOP Mythicizing Michael Freakin' Jordan so much---Even though NIKE wouldn't Want you to...Kobe probably would be considered the G.O.A.T. if you switch his and Jordan's career time periods...Jordan played in the exact era he needed to be in---5-6 years earlier--and he has 1 or 2 rings at the Most.

and I hate Kobe AND the Lakers.
BTW---Bird should have 4-5 MVPs---he got Screwed in '83 and '87
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

I respect the fact that he's what I'd call "Old School." In that he will play hurt when others from this time would sit it out and cry like girls. He's easy to put in the top 10 greatest players of all time.

Now that's the ONLY thing nice I will say about him.

You forgot to ad another zero there.

But Kobe's certainly a tremendous basketball player.
As a human I dislike him. As a basketball player he's in the top 10 of all time easy.

I don't put him in the top ten.

He isn't the best player from his era.

Both Shaq and Duncan were better.

Kobe lead teams that either missed or just barely made the playoffs without an all-star big man. The MVP he won in the finals should have gone to Gasol.

Heck, even the guy who coached both said Jordan was better.

Kobe won three titles riding Shaq.  You could have replace Kobe with any of the all-star swing men at that time and they would have won.

replace Kobe with Tracy McGrady/Vince Carter on 2000-2003 Lakers team, and you would probably have the same result

Respect his will to stay relevant and to try to win.

Dislike his Jordanesque attitude: I'm the best thing since slice bread and my teammates are here to help me.

Hate his game. He's a chucker, just like the 1984-1990 Jordan, and like him, he thinks he's better than he really is.

He really is the closest thing to Jordan, both overrated, Nike-ESPN-Stern baby boys, and everything that's wrong with modern NBA. Team game and fundamentals are nothing compared to clutchness, swag or whatever.

Just because he's the GOAT coach/president/basketball mind, one of those Red on Roundball vids:

I find it disrespectful that you even made me think of like in regards to Kobe. LOL just kidding... somewhat. 0.0

I hate him when it comes to basketball, I don't know or care about him otherwise. He's good but he ain't all that. I think I'd take him over LeBron if it was a game to escape hell but other than that, nope, cant stand him. I respect his skill and that's already hard to say but I'm not a hater, I give props when due.

Who said top 10? No sir, no ma'am!

Who said we'd call him G.O.A.T. if he was around in a different era? LOL stop with the jokes people.

Both Shaq and Duncan were better.

I agree with this, but there is a pretty compelling counter-argument. You could state that Kobe's success hinged on Shaq and Pau/Bynum's dominance, but Duncan's has hinged on Robinson and a great supporting cast, and Shaq needed Kobe and Prime-Wade to win as well.

The nuance there, I think, was that Shaq was the best player on those first three Lakers championship teams, Duncan has been (arguably) the best player on all of his championship teams, but Kobe, for all his bravado, was pretty clearly second fiddle for at least half of his RINNNGGGZZZ.

That said, I've got no problem putting him at the top of the best SG's of the last decade. Dude's a phenomenal basketball talent.

Interesting fact: for the second ring, Kobe and Shaqs ws/48 are identical. Shaqs PER is higher, but PER favors bigs.

That's wild--though it might be interesting to note that Kobe played in 80 games that season, while Shaq played about 65 (they "only" won 58).

Definitely glad that infighting ended that partnership. Shaqobe was monstrous.
