The only good free agents left I can think of are Mo Williams, Antwan Jamison, Lamar Odom, Ivan Johnson, Nikola Pekovic (RFA), Beno Udrih, Anthony Tolliver and Leandro Barbosa.

Tp on BARBOSA! I forgot all about him....I'd love to trade some players to make room for the Brazilian Blur!

we're not contenders so why does it matter.

open roster spots are more important for trade purposes rather than filling in a 15th man.

I wouldn't mind Lamar Odom I guess... that's only if we could get rid of some of the Wallace/Humphries/Crawford mess

There's a couple answers to this basic question:

1. No, not really. The best of the best free agents are gone, with the exception of Nikola Pekovic who is a restricted free agent, and what is left are end of the rotation and end of the bench guys.

2. We have 15 guaranteed contracts on the roster already so signing any free agent would require the Celtics to eat a contract and the money being sent out for that player in the luxury tax if we can't pull off trades to get under the tax line or get rid of another player.

3. I am not sure Danny is making decisions to improve this club short term by adding a free agent that is left. His main goal appears to be to save money and collect future draft assets while holding on to the young player assets he has now to build the future with or use in a trade to get a superduperstar. If this is the case signing any free agent left on the market appears to be extremely unlikely.
