Let's try to guess the starting line up for opening night.

Rules:
- not who SHOULD start; who actually is in starting line up opening night
- not "as of today"; who actually is in starting line up opening night
- listing reasons behind speculations

I'll start:
Pg: Avery Bradley
Sg: Courtney Lee
Sf: Gerald Wallace
Pf: Jeff Green
C: Kris Humphries

Reasons:
-  rondo won't be ready (they'll be cautious and hold him out), leading to bradley + lee backcourt
- Bass is traded during training camp (when injury forces someones hand)
- none of the centers stand out in camp, so they go small on opening night
- wallace has good camp
NOTE: all speculation and not my recommended line up; just where i think they will end up

Any better guesses?

I don't really have any interest in hypothesizing a lineup when so many cards have yet to be played, but if Wallace and Green are starting in the same lineup, Wallace would be the PF.

PF - Sullinger
PF - Olynyk
SF - Green
SG - AB
PG - Rondo

How is Jeff Green a PF?? Remember Rivers and his small ball is gone now.  2nd If wallace is your starting sf, your in trouble. Lee and AB is not a bad idea in case Rondo is not ready, but Rondo imo will be ready to go by opening night.

Olynyk will again bring his A game in the pre season and earn a spot in the starting lineup. Sullinger back to where he was last year and stay in the starting lineup.

There shouldn't be a reason that seniority dictates who should start or play more. Stevens is not Doc Rivers.

Humphries while competent is no starter material. His iq is avg and doesn't have alot of skills he brings to the table. Wallace while still good, can't shoot the ball which will hurt Brad Stevens lineup having two none automatic shooters in Rondo and Wallace.

This is my guess too (the lineup), but this is also what it SHOULD be. With maybe Brookes trying to challenge AB, as both are trying to prove something. I'm rooting for AB bc of the defense (and I already like him so much, so it's bias too hehe), I know he will get his offense on track as he has a chance to actually work on it.

Unfortunately, I don't think they will start G-Wallace and J-Green together. I think they will go with two out and out big men. I am thinking Sully and Humphries. Then J.Green at quick forward. Bradley in one of the backcourt slots. Then Rondo if healthy or C-Lee if not.

G - Bradley
G - Lee
F - Green
F - Sully
C - Humphries

Good idea for a thread.  TP.

I also second your prediction for the starting line-up on opening night as well.

I think the C's will have some impetus to give both Wallace and Humphries a good amount of playing time to hopefully increase their trade value.

This reasoning sounds sensible to me as well.

I. E., the preferred lineup if Rondo were ready would be:

Rondo
Bradley
Green
Sully
Hump

But until he's ready, it makes sense to start Bradley/Lee.   Will Bradley improve his point skills with a full training camp?

Both those lineups should be pretty decent defensively.

I'm not going to put it past Olynyk to play his way into the starting lineup at some point.   Certainly I expect him to be a significant part of the 4/5 rotation with Sully & Hump & Faverani.

NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

The reason I don't see Hump or GW starting is for 2 reasons

1) you pretty much know what they are with GW just needing to return to form.

2) neither may be here long, why not set a starting lineup of guys you are trying to rebuild with so that you don't have to mess up the flow.

The only players I think may get a shot (because we should be trying to build up our young guys) are Favarini and Brookes... that is to challenge AB and KO at their spots. I also think AB and KO win the starts b/c they will be the best option... training camp/preseason is the chance for the other youngins to battle them for their spot but I just don't see any of them beating Sully, KO, and AB for their spot, it's a forgone conclusion that JG and RR will start when healthy.

LOL your fear is something I didn't think of but it doesn't sound too far off with a change in the KH position... I just don't see him starting b/c he may not be here and I think Sully gives more than he does defensively and offensively, then their rb may be a wash if Sully is healthy.

Edit: I almost forgot about Bass b/c I think he is a bench player who HAD to start b/c of no other options. I really like BB, he does it on both ends and he's getting paid right, I just think it should be from the bench where he can lead and provide a sure thing from our bench bigs, with Hump as the center.

Well you posted exactly what I was going to write, so I might as well just tag on.  I don't think KO is ready to start, and he will be better (at least initially) playing more time against reserves.  Green starts over GW no question.  I don't think Rondo is ready for the 1st game, but not much later.  Maybe 10-12 games in?  At least with this line up you have 4 guys who at least started at one point last season (I believe sully started some games right?)

I think it will be an interesting season to watch.  Who knows how any of our lineup plays out.  Might be bigger trades coming than we even expect.

Rondo
Lee
Green
Bass
Hump

Not my favorite by any means. Rondo will be ready IMO, AB moved to the third guard spot, backing up the other 2.
