It depends if Exum and Gordon both declare. They could both go to school. There is some good talent coming through. Muiday at 6'5 and growing is a top 5 pick point guard with incredible handles, passing and shooting. Tyus Jones is a 6'2" Chris Paul clone with hesitation and cross over moves who can shoot the lights out too. Here's a good summary blog of the 2015 draft prospects.

I'm actually Australian, my wife is from New York/CT hence the Celtics connection.
Here are some of the better Australian NBA prospects for 2014/15, check out their highlights- all very solid. Deng Adel is like a shooting guard version of Kevin Durant at 6'8" tall and is the best player that no one is talking about(yet).

Dante Exum (who you all have seen)

Deng Adel 6'8" SG/SF (he's playing against some local chumps but you can see his athleticism and finishing skills/handles)

Ben Simmons 6'8" SF/SG- should be top 5-10 pick in 2015

Thon Maker (ESPN #2 ranked highschooler in USA, will be drafted 2016)

I am interested if the Center Tarczewski at Arizona develops this year. He has technique flaws that are correctable but he does 2 things that I really like. He can run and has decent hands. Both are rare in big men. I think he might be an inch shorter than his listed 7 foot height but he has a decent body. A little more weight room and he might turn into an NBA body.

I hope they look at Kyle Anderson. 6'9 PG who plays anywhere from 1-4 is rare, he could be really good if he improves his deep range game.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Wayne Selden from Kansas. He has prototypical size for a shooting guard at 6'5", 220.

Elite athlete, great passer, good shooting range, and great defensive potential. He is projected to go outside of the top-10 now, but could easily rise.

Not to mention he is from Boston!

He looks nice indeed.
I put him in my top picks and sleepers in a post about 2 months ago when I realized how bad we may be.
Incredible athlete who is developing his shooting. If he imprives his shooting he's one of those guys who could sneak into the top 8 picks. If you like athletes with size and swagger like him, check out a kid from the 2015 class named 'Muiday'. Point guard who is going top 5 guaranteed-incredible size and speed for a point guard. Lime a mix between westbrook and Chris Paul but he can shoot.

I like Selden a lot but I think he might be a two-year player if he wants to maximize his draft stock.

I wouldn't categorize him as an elite athlete.  He's above average with nice shiftiness and good hops but he's a rung or two below an elite athletic 2-guard like Wade for instance.  Wiggins is an elite athlete and Selden's athleticism isn't at that level, which is no insult since few are.

I really like his mindset for the game.  He's always trying to make plays for his teammates as well be a diverse scorer.

I read a story about how he won a contest to travel with the Celtics for one game about five years ago.  He got to hang out with Pierce, KG, Rondo and the rest and when he got dropped off outside the Garden, it was a real bittersweet moment.  It'd be nice if he could get that experience for real.

Just wanted to bump this thread, and see what people thought after the first week of games.

Out of the 3 guys SGs/SFs I saw that are rated very closely I like them in this order Wayne Selden Jr., James Young, and Gary Harris.   All 3 played very well, but I like Selden Jr. the most.  Maybe a poor man's Dwayne Wade, and I can see a little Michael Redd in Young.

Not too impressed with how Poythress, and Cauley-Stein played, and the Harrison twins for that matter.

Want to check out Vonleh, and still very much intrigued by McDermott.  He had 37 on Monday.

My fear is that a lot of these guys go back because the next year they could be lottery picks.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I want to add a name.

Guys who are with me in the "watching Parker vs Wiggins" thread will attest to this, but I like what I saw from Kansas' Perry Ellis.

He's suffering from "tweener" status, he's listed 6'8" that plays PF in a SF body. But I like how smart he is on the floor, picks his spots and doesnt force things. Not going to be blown away by his athleticism but is a tenacious defender.

But what I love the most is his physicality and his body control. In that game, he's hitting shots even with contact. He's scrapping for lose balls. If he learns to consistently shoot an 18 footer he'll be a good SF.

I like this guy a lot.  For the reasons you listed.  Just a skilled, fundamentally sound, physical player.

But like I posted above, feel like he's a prime candidate to come back to school so he could be a higher pick next year.  We will see though.

I like Willy Cauley-Stein. 7 footer who's athletic and plays good defense.

There has been plenty or threads about the projected top picks of next years draft and rightfully so.   I'd like to see who people like projected to be in the range from 10 to 30 next year.  Say the Celtics do better than expected we could potentially have 2 picks in that range.

I'll start off, and I won't pretend to know much about the incoming freshman or returning college players.

Doug McDermott -  I remember a couple threads about him during this past March Madness.   I watched a few of his games and I really liked him.  I was somewhat surprised he returned for another year.  Another coach's son I believe, and that seems to be the pattern lately with the C's.  :P

Dante Exum - It's only one game but I watched the Nike Hoop Summit, and he impressed me just as much as Parker and Wiggins.  He is someone I want to keep my eye on.

Dario Saric_ Never seen him play but I guess some teams in the top 15 of this past draft were disappointed he pulled out.

Glenn Robinson III-  Am I wrong I didn't see anything special about him in the few games I watched?   It looks like a couple mock drafts arleady have him in the top 10. :-\   I don't see him going that high but maybe I'm wrong.

James McAdoo- He was supposed to be a potential lottery pick after his freshman year I believe.  Wonder if he'll have a bounce back year.

Spencer Dinwiddle- Don't know anything about him but NBADraft.net has us picking him at number 16.   I do like the name.   ;D

I'll let the experts take over now.

Are we really anticipating that the C's might pick 30th in the draft?

You have to be kidding about Selden not being an "elite athlete". He is simply off the charts. If you saw him in person over the last several years with Tilton and BABC you would know that he is considered a freak athlete and could easily develop into the same conversation with Wade down the road.

Vonleh is more of the two year player. IMO Semaj Christom at Xavier is the sleeper, but he may not last until #10. He is on track to be an future elite NBA point guard IMO. A young Tony Parker.

I think there is a good chance Selden will be gone by #10. Maybe Vonleh too, if he comes out in 2014.

TJ Warren is an NBA scorer and I could see Khem Birch at UNLV moving up the draft board into the first round, as the season goes on.

Emmanuel Mudiay is playing for Larry Brown next year. It will be interesting to see if SMU cashes in with another big recruit. Very likely will happen and SMU could be a contenting program real fast.
