Because they are incredibly divorced from reality if you think Sully would get us Drummond.

You seem to be under the impression that I started this thread because I thought the trade was doable.  My intention was to probe posters to get a sense of how untouchable they think Sullinger is.  I honestly expected more people to say no or that they would trade Sullinger for either Monroe or Drummond but not the other because they only like one of those players.

So you're rationale for floating a ridiculous idea was simply to get people's opinions on Sullinger?  Seems to me you could have simply asked directly.  It also seems to me based on how you've defended your premise that you weren't simply asking about Sullinger but really took this trade seriously.

Really, stuff like this is embarrassing and it reflects badly on Celtics fan and this board.  If I was a fan of another team and stumbled upon this board and read stuff like this, I'd feel very smug.

Maybe I was really just trolling people like you.

I do this trade in a heartbeat. Works in the Trade Machine.

Boston gets :
Villanueva (expiring)
Knight
Drummond
Detroit 2014 first rounder

Detroit gets :

Rondo
Fab Melo
This is pretty funny. We pick up a promising young point guard, a first round pick, an expiring contract and one of the best young big men in the league and we only give up an All-Star point guard returning from a knee surgery and a D-League player.

Heck, I'd do that in heartbeat too.

So you're a troll?  Okay.  This really explains a lot.

Can you next propose a Olynyk for Dirk trade to get a sense of how people feel about Olynyk.  Dallas would have to consider it because they're getting the next Dirk, Canadian version.  It's continuity they couldn't pass up!

Dumars should be immediately fired, flogged to near death by pistons fans, and thrown in an active volcano if he does that trade.

Personally I don't think Ainge does it unless Detroit also throws in their unprotected 2016 first round pick.

Unfortunately, Detroit doesn't have a 2014 first round pick because it belongs to Charlotte.  Dumars would have to throw in the 2016 and 2018 first rounders, all unprotected, to get me to bite.  If I was really playing hardball, I'd make Dumars give me what Toronto gave Houston in the Lowry trade, a future first round pick that HAS to be in the lottery or it doesn't get sent.

No.  My Olynyk topic will be "Will Olynyk be a better rebounder and defender than Andrea Bargnani?"  His ability to surpass Dirk in those two areas will be the subject of my follow-up question.

Sullinger averaged 6-6 w/ an injured back as the 5th option on offense.

The Celtics dynamic this year will cause Sullinger to be featured in the offense. When he is, he'll be able to showcase his ability and have the stats to match.

I expect Sullinger to eventually be just as good or better than Monroe; the per 36 and advanced metrics from their rookie seasons are considerably similar.

Trading Sullinger would depend on how successful they are as a tandem and Kelly Olynyk's ability (because you'd be choosing him over JS). In that case, you'd try to get the player that fits best with Olynyk which would probably be someone that could help him on defense, in this case, Drummond. Offensively, although Monroe has a polished offensive game, I think Sullinger's high BB IQ, high-low versatility, and passing ability will mesh well with Olynyk's ability. As long as they can be average defensively, they are going to destroy teams on offense and be a successful tandem.

I think sullinger can be Monroe in a couple years, no way i trade him for himself lol. I would trade him for Drummond. But i dont see us talking to Pistons about a trade if rondo is not involved .

Trade Suly to Pistons? No. God help us before we send someone with upside and potential for days to the motor city.

what if you are getting someone with MUCH MUCH more upside and potential back? I like Sully, but both these guys have FAR more value.
