I would rather go to bed at night dreaming about Wiggins Parker or Randle than having nightmares about being down 3-0 and losing to the NYK in the first round again.

Since we clearly fielded a full roster in that series.

Ya I mean I think anyone who posts on here realizes that we didnt. What's your point?

Exactly, over the past couple of years, we've always been hit with injuries. That is for some part, the nature of an older team. 99% chance this would've happened again. Even if not, we wouldn't have been good enough anyway.

Look everyone here would prefer being a contender next season again. Most of us just don't think that was achievable.

Rebuilding sucks. I hope all you rebuild fanatics are happy now.

If we are lucky we might contend in five years.

No free agents are signing here unless we overpay.

Lottery here we come hurray.

I preferred the get Rondo, Barbosa, Sully healthy. sign Steamer and run it back option.

what do you really want us to do? KG and PP cannot compete being the first and second option anymore. They are 37 and 38. Next year would just be full of injuries with PP and KG. I don't mind this "rebuild"

Agreed in a perfect world we would be putting the 2008 team. But the reality is we no longer had the peices to compete for a championship and DA cut bait before it was too late to aquire assets for his older players.

the rebuild ,  small , medium, or total had to come at some point,  all the stars were old , Jason Terry too,  and Allen if he stayed........

Doc isn't the best choice for a rebuild of this significance ,    he realized that and went to a team of older players looking to win a ring

A new  young coach is probably a good choice for a rebuilding program,     we step down as contenders ,  other teams that have been adding pieces and drafting well move up for their turn at a banner run.

After a few years of drafting and trading , our TIME to contend will arrive too .

Only a few teams will certain appeal seem to build on the fly .......ie the Lakers........but this may not be the case so much so with D H , Phil leaving, Buss dying ,  Kobe getting old.........may not be as easy to pick and choice as in the Phil and Kobe glory years

We weren't very good before Rondo and Sully went down. Got kinda better just enough to make the playoffs, almost didn't even get the 7th seed.

KG and PP can't carry the team, PP's shot was flat half the time. Rondo wont be 100% until at least the all star game most likely, that includes just getting into game shape. Sully as well. He comes back sooner, but he's not going to make the team that much better. Barbosa is in the same boat as Rondo, and older so the rehab may not take as well. I don't see him being the savior.

So you bring them back, and maybe make the playoffs the next couple years and get 15th or higher picks. In two years they both are probably done and you have to rebuild. But now instead of 9 unprotected picks over the next 5 years, we have 5 picks.

So instead of two chances of getting a star player we get one. Yeah Brooklyns picks the next year or two may be in the 20's, but ours should be high lottery, and then when we are in the 20's Brooklyns should be in the lotto for the last three years.

So either we be kinda bad for a couple years, becuase we are still I think one legit star away from being a good playoff team and have options to trade with picks for good players. Or we be kinda bad just making the playoffs to in a coulple years have to rebuild and take 5 to 8 years to get respectable again.

I still like to see DA make a couple more moves, but I think we are in good shape with a little luck to be back in the mix of it with in 3 years. Thats better than 8 I would think.

I think that that would be a wildly successful rebuild.  I don't expect us to truly contend in the foreseeable future.

My point is that it's a big fallacy to extrapolate a repeat performance in the future based on our performance during the last playoffs. It simply makes no sense.

Other than, you know, it was our young guys who were lost for the season this time around.

I actually think we are closer than some think.

Mia, NYK & BKL will all decline this next season; could see us in the 2015 ECF if we add a stud to the Rondo/Green core.

A healthy Rondo, and I mean back to normal, and another "in his prime" star and some good role players and this can be a decent playoff team as it stands now.

If we get a lucky ping pong ball or two and make a good trade and this team will contend, sooner then later. We have draft picks, young players who will develop, a GM who knows the system and cap space next off season. Those are pretty good ingredients for a quick rebuild. Did anyone really expect the KG/Allen instant contender?

we were going to lose to the knicks regardless. having rondo would have brought it to 6 or 7 games. kg was playing on cortisone shots

We would have made it back to the ECF with a healthy Rondo.

Just my opinion.  It's really, really hard to truly contend in the NBA.  I don't have a lot of faith that we'll be in the top four to six teams in the next five years.

I think we would've lost to Indiana in 6 games anyway, even if we got past New York Knicks. Even with a healthy Rondo, I don't see Pierce and Garnett hanging on much longer. They'd have been worn out. David West and Roy Hibbert would've abused whoever was in our frontcourt. Paul George would have wasted the 35 year old small-forward...  :(

We matched-up quite well with Indiana, this "abuse" you're talking about is completely baseless.
