Wallace is a pretty good player who had an off year last year. If he starts for this team and puts up decent numbers (13+ppg, 5 rpg, 3 apg ) we can trade him before the trading deadline this season to a contender who either needs him because of injuries or is one piece of way from contending.

If i was Danny, all i would demand in return would be a 2014 1st round pick and expiring contracts (I'll even throw in Melo or Crawford if they want young talent too).

What do you guys think are the chances of us being able to get that in return for Wallace (giving that he does indeed put up the numbers i stated above)?

I'd say there's about a zero percent chance.

I too think it's a low chance maybe we can showcase him to someone who needs a forward.   I doubt it though.

even if its in the 25-30 range?  I mean right now Gerald wallace's contract does look pretty bad, but you have to remember he is only 31 and has been fairly productive throughout his career.

Im sure some teams would be willing to pay 10 million a year for the next 2 1/2 years for a starting SF.

Gerald Wallace isn't going to be a starting caliber SF for the next 2 1/2 years.  There's a legit question regarding whether he was a starting caliber player last year.

Here are Wallace's PPG numbers the last four seasons:

18.2 -> 15.7 -> 13.8 -> 7.7

Here are his Per-36 numbers:

16.0 -> 14.9 -> 13.9 -> 9.2

That's just not a positive trend, and I'm sure that opposing GMs who are evaluating a trade for Wallace see the same numbers.

Would you trade the Nets 2014 pick + Wallace for any expiring deal?

tough decision...it would probably depend on how the nets are doing by mid-season. If they are clicking and are in the top 3 seeds, then yes i would.
Otherwise no

No. If a team wants to trade an expiring straight up for Wallace, sure, but I wouldn't give up any assets to move him. It's not like we will sign a free agent any time soon; Plus Wallace helps us get to the salary floor. There is no urgent need to move him.

A team looking to plug a hole due to injury is going to want a rental on a guy with a shorter deal.  Bogans to a team with a trade exception for a second-rounder is one of the ideal deadline transactions the Celtics can make.

Wallace has a Vin Baker contract and the Nets pick will probably be worthless. In think it's a no brainer.

If we can trade him for an expiring contract period, nevermind getting a 1st rounder with it, that will be an excellent trade for us.

Heck, even if we can shave a year off of his contract I'd be pretty happy.

We'll probably have to send a pick along with him to shave a year or 2 off of his contract though.

Remotely potential candidates I see so far are:
Turkoglu (with a draft pick or 2 going to Orlando)
Al Harrington
Ty Thomas
Asik or Lin (if Wallace can somehow show that he's still a semblance of his old self, I think he'd be a good fit on Houston)
Tayshaun Prince (with a draft pick going to Memphis.  assumes that Wallace shows to be more productive than Prince)
Amare (we'd have to send another productive player or 2 along to NYK)
Goran Dragic (we may have to take Beasley too)
Nene (if we get lucky)
