I would love to see us take a chance on Andrew Bynum, heck id sign em a  4 year deal and sit him this year with rondo to get fully recovered. Next year starting 5.

Rondo
Green
Wiggins
Olynyk
Bynum

Huge and athletic lineup with 3 guys who can spread the floor and create for themself. That team would win a championship in the next 3 years.

If the C's could get a 3yr/15mil or so contract on Kaman I'd love for them to go after him.  As I said somewhere else, he is very underrated.  He does everything well, but nothing great.  If it is just a one year deal I'd say "no".

No interest in Kaman. He gives up more than he gets.

Beno Udrih. Good backup pg, shooter, and locker room guy, and I believe could be had for a reasonable contract.

+1

JJ Hickson would be nice.

Apparently he only costs $5mill...

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

TP. A 4 year, 40 mil bargain deal is worth it.

C's basically need a vet center that will not dramatically improve the team and won't be here for more than 2 years tops.  Just need a filler for that spot until C's are in a better position to grab someone to help them contend in 3-4 years

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
What's the word on Timofey Mosgov? Fairly young, functional 5. Possibly a trade chip down the line.
The word is he's still as horrible as he was the last time we had this conversation. And on a team that has Fab Melo and Colton Iverson, he's pretty much unnecessary -- the spot for "borderline NBA-capable stiff" (a.k.a. "young, functional big") has already been occupied and backed up.

****, I tend to agree.

Not really anyone I like.  Perhaps Hickson but onlybbecause his defense is garbage so he'd lookngood with Rondo and give up one of the worst opponents points per possesion like he always has.
A young shooter from Europe.  Try and get gigi datome and roll the dixe on some other expats.

No need to waste our time on guys like Ellis. They just make ue win a few more games while taking away minutes from guys that we wantbas trade chips or assets down the road.
Danny will probably leave roster as is and let summer league guys fight it out.
Watch Olnyk and Sully grow into men very quickly with a season or two as starting bigs.
They'll help us get a top 6 or 8 pick and also be valuable as assets down the road like Al Jeff.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

First, I doubt once the trade is done that the C's are going to want to add to the roster. I actually think quite the opposite. I think Joseph, White and Randolph will be cut. Then I think Ainge concentrates on attempting to move long term salary for expiring contracts. Once that is over, I think Ainge will take stock of the team and see where he needs to add a body or two and what is left on the market and whether adding someone will put the Celtics over the luxury tax line because that is absolutely not going to happen this year.

So given all that if he is going to spend any money it will be short germ and small money. So vet minimum guys and young guys with a potential for some upside growth is where he would go. Guys like Brandan Wright, Leandro Barbosa, Dorrell Wright, Sam Dalembert, Roddy Beaubois, those are the types of guys Ainge  will sign. Short money, short years, incentive laden, unguaranteed extra year contracts are what he will sign, if he signs anyone at all.

Yeah, very much true.

As for targets for Wallace, any chance we can trade him and Humphries for Amare?  Add in Fab Melo or a future first if needed.  Mostly just to shave the last year off of Wallace's contract.

Wallace and a future first to Washington for Trevor Ariza?

If we are going to sign anyone I want it to be some real young talent that hasn't worked out yet or hasn't played up to their potential. There's quite a few young guys out there that we could sign on the cheap who haven't quite reached their potential yet, but could be had for the minimum and could surprise you:

Henry Sims C:
7 foot, 23, excellent season in the D-League. I think he is going to develop into a solid rotational big.

Jeremy Tyler PF:
Once was a high school lottery talent, has now fallen off the map. If he has matured, I bet the talent is still there. Only 22.

Gigi Datome SF:
Super hot girlfriend and apparently lit it up in Europe, I'm sold.

Wayne Ellington SG:
He can shoot.

Rodrigue Beaubois:
Constant injury concern, but he is an excellent athlete. I'd at least check him out for the minimum.

Nobody special, but I think at least one of those guys could be a solid rotational piece if they figure it out. If not you really don't lose much at all because they'd be so cheap.

God no!!!

You seriously want to lock us in for 4 years 1t $10M/year for a guy who is just as bonehead as DeMarcus Cousins, yet as big a health risk as Amare Stoudemire?

For all I know Bynum may never again play more then 20 games in a season at the rate he's going.

I would much rather take a chance on Greg Oden.  At least he seems to actually make an effort at trying to heal himself, and he would be available for a short contract for probably MLE at the most.  Plus if he did end up healthy he'd play with a chip on his shoulder to try to prove he is worth it.

What's the deal with Cole Aldrich? Total bust, or did he just not get the opportunities to show his stuff?

I might take a flier on Aldrich, Brandon Wright, Greg Oden and Andrew Bynum in terms of big men not named JJ Hickson. The idea being to see what you've got in one of these guys and hopefully strike gold and retain their rights next summer if they can become a key building block.

Aldrich purely on a 1 yr vet min deal to see what he's got. Slightly more for Oden, and more $ but only 1 year for Andrew Bynum. Brandon Wright could be a good player in terms of the direction the Celtics are heading. He also could be had at a reasonable rate.

In terms of unexciting but potentially necessary players, I think Sebastian Telfair may be a decent backup for Rondo. Provided he is cheap (vet min), I'd bring him in. There's not too many attractive options and Telfair is seasoned now. Not exciting, but a true backup PG is needed.

I would like to see Aldrich or steimsma signed for short cheap deals. Winning or not I would still like to see a team that plays solid defence and I believe e his starts with an anchor. Fab may some day play this role but I don't see it happening this year, Kelly , sully and bass do not have the size or length to fill this role.
