I think he stays in LA for a few reasons:

- They can offer the most money

- Laker Allure

- Upcoming cap space in 2014

No cap space as long as Kobe hangs around.  He's not taking a pay cut to play with Dwight.

Warriors making a strong push. I think they are leading the race now.

I DO NOT think he stays in LA. He was misused, he wants a championship and Kobe doesn't have an achilles anymore. The future there is VERY uncertain. The Laker allure only exists because they are contenders...not anymore.

If I was Dwight, I go to GSW right now. Still Cali, playing with great young talent, and contenders for years. Sign n trade me.

Houston is second choice for me if I'm Dwight.

He might not take a pay cut, but even if he signs at his current market value, the Lakers will have space next off-season.

LA is a destination city in itself. Nevermind that one of the two most stories franchises are there.

Can the rockets sign Josh Smith and Dwight Howard? That would be a fun team to watch. Especially with Harden and Lin. I still like Golden State...although I'm not sure how Dwight's shoulders will work in those short-sleeve uniforms.

It'll be like fitting 35 clowns into a Volkswagon beetle. Not impossible, but...

I got you. I understand the line of thinking. It's also a huge market, so there's the ego-stroke of knowing that many people are gonna see you prance up and down the court everynight. Good chance for dwight to show off his smile on national TV everynight.

But I still think he would rather win and be surrounded by talent that'll be around a while. If I could choose between the paramount basketball achievement of an NBA championship or wearing purple and gold and giving Jack Nicholson high fives...I'd pick winning.

That's just me. Maybe Dwight isn't a winner. That's what Kobe thinks.

Im saying Warriors.

With the move for Iggy, bogging up the SF spot now, I could see a trade with Bogut and Barnes/Thompson and filler to make it work.

LA gets a prospect out of it, and a center to boot.

Howard said he wanted more talent after he talked to Huston and then was impressed with GS. Maybe they talked about a similar plan in getting Iggy to add with every one else.

I'd be shocked if GS didn't feel out where Dwight was at and talk potential moves to make the offer more enticing. And really a sign and trade with LA wouldn't be a bad deal like you said. Bogut is fine. And Klay and Harrison...love em both. Except that Klay's parents manage his money and give him a weekly allowance.

But hey, I guess you can still be a stud basketball player even if you have an embarrassing relationship with your parents and aren't trusted with your money.

So close.  So many considerations.  I think GS and Houston are neck and neck.  GS presently has more pieces that fit better, but Houston still could trade Asik and Lin to bring in better complimentary pieces, plus they have that no state income tax, vs CA's high state income tax.  I'll say Houston, but GS has to be really intriguing and appealing to Howard.  Mark Jackson seems like a great youngish coach, too, not to knock McHale, who I like a lot, too.
