So the Bucks essentially ended up trading Tobias Harris for two second rounders.

That franchise has no idea what it's doing right now.

The Clippers need to use the money they have left to instill a defensive atmosphere.  I just don't think Jordan and Griffin are intimidating enough on defense to make them real contenders.

McDonaugh did really well.  Getting Bledsoe for just Dudley and taking on Butler's contract is a steal.

Nice of Milwaukee to facilitate a three team deal involving two former members of the Celtics organization.  There is no way Redick didn't have more value than two second round picks.  Wow.

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Who starts bledsoe or dragic
I would start them both. They have no two guards anyway.

Dragic is a big PG at 6-4 200lbs. He can handle most of the two guard matchups defensively. No point sitting one of your top three players on the team when you have a hole as big as Phoenix does at that SG spot.

Yeah, that would probably be a good idea. Shannon Brown is close to the same size and not nearly as talented, and Wesley Johnson is nowhere near as good as Dragic.

Just because you're big for your position doesn't necessarily mean you're good defensively. Even though Bledsoe is smaller, he would be the man the Suns would want defending other 2's should they go with a Dragic/Bledsoe backcourt.

Oh, Dudley is really nice for LAC. Dudley + Redick is decent but still underwhelming compensation for Bledsoe. I think they would have been better off aiming for one single player who can be a plus starter rather than two strong supporting players.

I think both Dudley and Redick are best suited to bench roles rather than starting spots. I think there is still a fair bit of work to be done there. A Tony Allen type would go a long way to addressing those issues though (issues = high level athleticism on wing, wing defense, possession creation on wing).

Maybe its just me, but I think that's a pretty good haul for Bledsoe. I guess I'm just not as high on him as everyone else is. Dudley is the "3&D" guy every contender needs. Reddick should be very valuable on a Doc run team - JJ's great running off of screens ala Ray Allen.

I just think it is very short term thinking from LAC.

Trading a player with strong long term value for a pair of role players.

They should have gotten (1) someone who has long term value for them in a trade for Bledsoe. Someone young who can be part of their core long term. Or, (2) traded Bledsoe for a single player with greater individual impact (in a larger trade if needs be), a player with star talent ... rather than taking back two role players.

It just looks like really short term thinking from LAC to me.
I would contend that Eric Bledsoe is just a role player as well so, LA traded two role players for two role players.

JJ just turned 29 and he'll be signed through his prime. Dudley is 27. They surrendered no additional draft picks so its not as if they mortgaged their future in this deal. JJ and Dudley fill a greater need for the Clips than Bledsoe.

And theres also the possibility that Bledsoe plays a full season as a starter and winds up being a slightly above average point guard rather than this future star some people think he is.

So where does Crawford fit now...

Same as before. 6th man.

I just don't see the minutes working for everyone at the 2 since all three need significant minutes to be productive. I'm thinking purely by position cause idk if Dudley can even consider guarding the three and not two off the bench.

Furthermore, Redick is 29 and Dudley is 27. It's not like they acquired two ancient veterans like the Nets. Good trade by the Clippers, absolutely incredible trade by the Suns, and Milwaukee...well, they're just being Milwaukee.

Thanks to RJ87 and D.o.s. for clarifying things for me. TPs.

And Milwaukee definitely got snowed here.

CP3 and Crawford played a combined 63 minutes last year. That leaves 33 minutes for Redick. I know Billups is still around, but he's been a severe liability since his Achilles' injury, and he's honestly better serving a player-coach role from the sideline rather than be a complete defensive non-factor on the court.

Is Dudley going to start? But to be honest lol, clippers clearly wouldve been better off with KG and Pierce and picked up Korver from free agency.

With Doc, he will start at PF.

Kudos to Doc for getting this done.  Butler had a very good season shooting from three but Redick and Dudley are two of the best long-range shooters in the game.  Chris Paul has to be happy.  Another plus from Doc's standpoint: he can run the same plays he ran for Ray, including the stupid spinning play along the baseline he introduced two years ago which NEVER worked, not that a lack of success would cause Doc to excise it from the playbook.

If Chris Paul wanted Doc in LA so badly, he should have to play PF.

It's not like Doc would object.   ;D
