We've had interest for some time and apparently it's still there.

Greg Oden hasn’t played in an NBA game in more than 3½ years, but hasn't kept teams from inquiring about the possibility of signing him.

Oden, 25,has received interest from the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers and Memphis Grizzlies, league sources said. The No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA draft hasn’t played since Dec. 5, 2009, because of multiple knee injuries.

Oden is in a "good place" mentally now, one source said, and hopes to be ready physically to play by training camp. He also doesn’t appear to be in a rush to make a decision on where to sign, the source said.

Agreed, but I think his value would be more to a serious contender.

I'd like him on the Grizzlies--they need a legitimate backup big, and if Greg Oden can stay healthy, he'd be great for them.

Of course, if Greg Oden can stay healthy then I might win the lottery.

I'm betting he goes to Miami.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
I don't think he comes here, unless we offer him more money than other teams. Would love to have him here, ease him back into playing and wait for him to make a full impact in 2014.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I don't see how on earth he has value to a title contender.

I mean if his goal is to sit on the bench and get a ring mayne but if he is tryong to rejuvenatehis career dodoesn't make any sense.

Join miami as the only center? Doesn't seem lile the best thing for him.

I'd think he would want a no pressure situation where he can be brought along slowly, get a ton of attenttion from coaches and medical staff.

That's me. Who knows maybe he wants a ring handed to him or just wants to make as much money as possible.

I'm assuming his agent would be pushing him to play for a team that can really be flexible with his minutes which I would think would be a team not in title contention

idk, they're both iffy for me. Oden hasn't played for 3 1/2 years and is made out of glass...

same goes for Bynum but Bynum doesn't seem to care about playing

Pushing forward on my earlier example: How many minutes do you expect him to get behind, say, Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph?

TP.  It makes all the sense in the world to pickup with a bad team on a 1-2 year deal that will allow him lots of time on the court that he sorely needs (assuming his body can withstand it).  Then see from there where he wants to go and what caliber of player he can be, if he can play at all.

I don't think Miami can afford to waste their only means of signing a FA on a player with such a troubled history of season-ending injuries.  They need to use it on someone they are confident will be playing in June.

I don't want to spend another roster spot on another center who might not contribute anything next season. We already have Fab Melo for that.

I'd waste it just on potential alone. Fab Melo can easily become trade fodder, or sent to a team with cap space for a 2nd round pick or something if needed be.

That's good to know, it's really been the mental aspect that's been holding him back.

I like it. Maybe I just sympathize him because my knees are just as bad. Maybe I just really think that the mental fortitude that he has surely gained through his humbling setbacks has made him a better player.
