If we're truly blowing it up and trying to do a quick bottom out this year, we want a young, promising coach who can learn on the job.  Shaw seems like the closest fit for that, except the triangle he seems to want to run might not work well with Rondo.

SCeltic34,

I guess that Vinny is an option because he has a BETTER winning percentage than Nate and he just coached a team to a 56-win season!!??????

Why is there so MUCH HATE for Vinny Del Negro???  Could someone please give me a rational explanation with the emotional comments left out please???

Thanks,

Smitty77

It's not hate for VDN, it's just that he's not a championship caliber coach.  Does he get too much blame for the Clippers failures?  Probably.  But as one article states, he may not be much worse than most coaches, but he certainly is not any better. Briefly, there are much better options that VDN.  Why settle for him?  Simple enough?

None of these guys are championship coaches in this poll.  So perhaps go with the best teacher of the lot, George Karl.

Bird.

Or any of Pop's assistants.

Bird taking orders from Danny?...not likely.

I'd love Hollins. He's a hard-nosed defensive-minded coach who has experienced the postseason run multiple times. Besides, Shaw's triangle offense wouldn't be ideal with Rondo around anyway.

Realistically, Lionel Hollins. Dream scenario, Kevin McHale.

I agree and in a couple of years bring back the guy that changed the culture in Boston from one of Doc Rivers,Antoine,PP to the one we have today....Bring back Kevin Garnett as the coach.

just thrilled to get rid of Doc -- not a fan of a coach that's ok with running his best players into the ground while not trying to win night in and night out.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Only One Choice. Larry Brown....

I can see it now. Rondo and Larry Brown will get to a point where Larry is calling a play and Rondo would do the exact opposite.

I know Brown is a basketball mind, but he rubs players the wrong way. See Allen Iverson. And I'm afraid of that.
