LOL and we're just now hearing about this "fist fight" two months after our season has already ended? And no other reporter in Boston (you know, who are actually around the team) bothered to write about it?

OK Chris Sheridan, whatever you say.

OMG. So lemme get this straight. Rondo tells Rivers to go eff himself during a team meeting and people still take Rondo's side? I agree that Rivers probably could have handled it better but doesnt that say more about how uncoachable Rondo is? Get this guy out of here. He's a punk. And the funny part is people want to pair this guy up with Josh Smith who is an equally volatile punk. That's a recipe for disaster.

Trade Rondo. Draft someone like Schroeder. Start fresh. Rondo clearly isnt leading this team to anything.

Rondo's already led the team to something. Start with all the way to game 7 of the ECF last year. Saying he won't lead the team anywhere is like saying he'll never be an all-star. Again, I'd like to know when the incident happened, some of the Rondo/Doc clashes have been reported well after they happened like they were recent events. And I think that people are looking at this in a vacuum, I doubt that dropping an f-bomb during a meeting is the worst thing that ever happens in the nba. This blog has had tons of posts in favor of trades for players that have gotten coaches fired. If you don't want players that have done worse than swear at a coach in a meeting you're going to be a perennial bottom feeder.

An F-bomb and near physical altercation doesn't necessarily equate to intense dislike. It is just a bad moment. Something that shouldn't happen but does happen from time to time. Something most people can move on from easily enough and still have a good working (and perhaps personal relationship).

Is there anything else aside from this incident to confirm "intense dislike"?

Or is this just a reporter running wild with a small story and making it out to be far more important than it really is?

C'mon
The last part about Chris saying "everybody around the league knows Rondo's a headcase"
What is that? Who told him the story? Why did Rondo tell one adult from another to______ and what about a coach who is gonna leap on a player?  ??? I heard Doc say how much of a genius Rondo is...in fact Doc said he's the smartest he's ever coached...maybe too smart for his own good and he wants to bail because of Rondo?

Ray left because he was given a very specific roll and not allowed to deviate. IMO. Darko left IMO for the exact same reason. He either didn't wanna just set pics or he got in Doc's doghouse and left. Lotta folks just let that story drift away without inspection. Rondo had fun tossing to Shaq why not Darko? They did it in exhibition?  Doc was convinced and it was reported on this site that Doc thought the only way to beat Miami was with speed and that meant small ball. Darko was a slow big man who could not get back on defense. Follow me now...it was Doc who was talking about this is all about beating Miami...does everybody NOT remember that? Signing Courtney and JET and personel to fit that model would seem to have been exactly what Doc wanted and believed could beat the Heat.

I was down from the moment Darko left. That was odd as hell? I watched the ex games and his handle and passing were ....nice...but he was always very slow getting back and Doc was yelling at him and waving at him. He (Doc) was set on small ball and figured his lack of speed was an achilles for his plan. Darko saw the writing on the wall and bailed. We used a big when we had no other choice and it was too late. Why couldn't Doc go ala Perk and use Darko like the 2008 Celts kinda used Perk? And why did he think KG and PP could ever match speed with the Heat?

Now we built a small ball team that Doc seemed to really want...it failed and he's leaving it all behind because Rondo dropped the F word? You gotta be kidding me.

Sheridan has lost me...he never had me but it sounds like he's carrying Docs water.

I remember Kobe talking about how much he would LOVE to play with RR and it's because he's all in. Bad habits turns it on when he likes but he plays to win and doesn't seem to care about making friends with anyone.
I could do without the friend thing if it makes half a team decide to cross the coast because they wanna stick together. This isn't Millionaires Man Club it's a Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.n Basketball team.
One that Doc helped cripple and now he wants out because RR called him a name??

Come on man....what?

The thing that worries me the most is the amount of information that is being leaked out to the media. Negotiations with LA were so public that it eventually killed the deal cause there was no way Stern could be persuaded that these two deals were separate.

Why would someone from the inside leak something like this unless there are fractions and problems inside the organization?

This will clearly hurt Rondo's already shaky image and diminish his trade value even more.

Also, I hated when Doc went out and said that it was Danny's idea to ship him to La with KG. Who goes out like that to save his own face?

This all reminds me of a situation when two people break up and throw other person under the bus cause their egos are hurt.

Grown men in competitive situations something lose their cool, it happens.   You can tell a lot of people never played ball past grade school or even high school, I would wager.   Now I never was that guy ( I was a run through a brick wall for the coach even when hurt guy) but I sure as heck have seen it.   Especially when men are grown up and playing.

A coach's job is to push your buttons to get you to play better and put a team strategy out there to win.  A player's job is to produce within the team concept to win.   Sometimes these things class or people try to do their own things.  Either the player or the coach one of them tries to be the "man" at the expense of the other.   It might have happened but these things happen between men in these situations.

Clippers are shady people to deal with. This is nothing more than them trying to gain some leverage in trade talks. I mean this comes out now seriously?!?

Could definitely be a Clipper's strategical tactic to leak stuff. Why did Jackie MacMullan or Woj not report this?

Don't know about this story, but the guys at CSNNE said back when this Doc story first broke that getting away from coaching Rondo would definitely be part of Doc's motivation.  They said it as if they had inside info from reliable sources and there wasn't any doubt in their minds about that being a factor.

Lol.

When did this even happen?

February at best. Rondo's been out since then. So I wonder how true this is and why its just now getting out.

If this happened, it was probably awhile back. Clearly both parties have moved on, so I wonder who's leaking this if it did in fact happen.

A source close to the Celtics tells Chris Sheridan of SheridanHoops.com that Rondo droopped an F-bomb on Rivers in the locker room during a team meeting, and Rivers went after Rondo and tried to fight him before the fracas was broken up.

http://www.sheridanhoops.com/2013/06/22/rondo-f-bombed-rivers-two-almost-fought/

So when is this supposed to have happened?  Is it recently, say in the last 3 days?  It sounded like Doc was only in town for a brief time to work with DA on the clippers deal.  No matter what Rondo said, I doubt that Doc would try to fight him...It just sounds like sensationalized reporting of a verbal dust up.

Are they having full team meetings right now with all the players?  I would have thought that everyone was on a summer vacation now?  Too much of this just doesn't make sense.
