I would say there is a decent chance that we learn absolutely nothing from this press conference.

I wouldn't be surprised if they say that they explored something with the Clippers, which didn't happen.  And as of now, they are going forward with Doc as their coach.

Agreed.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see this turn into damage control doubletalk.

It almost has to be.  I mean, with all that has been going on, they need to address it.  But, it seems pretty clear that everything that is going on has not ended yet.

Yeah, I agree. There is a lot behind the scenes here - that has the potential to accelerate this franchise's apparently orchestrated descent into the depths.

I just don't expect any honest answers today.

Yup.

And it likely won't preclude a future move if Stern can be mollified.

But if this is like the Paul to the Lakers situation, Stern's interference might just be the death of the whole deal.

We will see though.

I think the death of the whole deal might still be on the Clippers end.  I am not convinced Sterling has any interest in the deal.
Yeah the reports that the clippers GMs/management weren't empowered to deal a first round pick is vexing.

How could you even deal with them if true?

Yeah no question that I bet getting Sterling to agree to pay Doc is a challenge on their end.

But Stern has said what he said about this being a package deal.  We can make it look like two separate ones I suppose but at the end of the day EVERYONE already knows what that really is.  Stern already showed he will stop a deal for "basketball reasons" so when this has a more legit basis, I could see this being dead from his end.

Again, we will see though.

Yeah, I lay a lot of the blame for why all this turned sour on Sterling's folks.   If they had not proven unbelievably stingy to the point of unreasonable and left at least one of either Bledsoe or salary relief in the deal, then it would have gotten done much, much sooner and smoother.  There would have been less drawn out drama and everyone would look a lot less .... uncomfortable with the outcome.  The resulting deal was so bad for the C's, imho, and had the look of "Danny is now stuck and forced to stay at the table when he should have walked away" --- which of course implies he was being forced by Doc and KG to stay in (even if it didn't start that way).

The idea that Sterling's negotiating team came to the table without having that draft pick in their wallet if needed?   That's bizarre.   I can understand giving them tight rules on when they can pull it out of their pocket, but for them to have to go back to him to get his ok?

Unreal.

I picture the press conference going something like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkoYbWJLEmw

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Anyone know a link to the presser at noon?

I will lay dollars to doughnuts that the words "Kevin Garnett" are not uttered once in the initial statements.

And, when someone asks about KG, that Danny will say "Doc's situation and KG's are NOT RELATED AT ALL."
Sten's stance is baffling considering that they deiscussed a deal with KG and Joradan earlier at the trade deadline.  It's not like the KG part of the deal was added for the Doc part of the deal.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

Press conference canceled until monday

I have been thinking the same thing. If I were Danny I would think this is very helpful evidence.

But now Stern has boxed himself in, with his public remarks the other day about the deals being linked. Based on what I have seen over the years, it would be very unlike him to then give in and allow the deal.

Sorry. DEALS.
