Doc Rivers has not ruled out taking time off from coaching for a return to his broadcasting career and returning afterward to coaching, according to a source.

"You guys (media) have been around Doc long enough to know that's always been something he's talked about," the source said. "So it shouldn't come as a surprise.

"And frankly, now is probably as good a time as any for him to go that route."

The reported deal between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers -- in which Rivers would be freed to coach in L.A. -- has stalled.

In other words, Doc has leverage to force his way out of his Boston deal.  Release him now for some compensation, or lose him for nothing.

Meanwhile other sources cited say he's willing to come back to the C's.

Lots of leaks, almost all certainly have an agenda at this point.

I'd stay firm.

I don't see the point of getting "assets" unless it is truly something you value.

I think the Celtics blocking doc from coaching for 3 years is a lot more leverage than givimg up Doc and KG for something built around DeAndre Jordan.
