Yep.  I have in the past.  I like watching the young prospects develop.  I enjoyed watching a lot of pretty horrible Celtics teams in the Pitino era, etc.

This is my feeling exactly.  And even moreso with Celticblog around (hopefully providing some interesting conversation).  I remember watching during the Wickes/Rowe era and throughout the 22 year drought.  I do find it interesting to watch prospects develop.   I rooted for Tim Duncan for a full season.  I may not watch every game to the end, but I'd watch every game.

Honestly, if they head into next season finally looking to start the rebuilding process and move on from this era, I think I'd follow the team with much more interest than if they bring the gang back and the 2013-2014 season is just a year of watching reruns.

I agree with this

For me its still a lot more gratifyig watching pierce drop 40 on the cavs or KG continue to do work on guys like blake griffin kevin love etc etc.

I honestly don't get what's exciting about the rebuilding process. At least after like 15 games when you'll be like "holy moly this is the most brutal team" "We'll never won with any of these guys"

I agree in the sense that losing is not fun. Actually, I think losing really sucks.

But having said that, the product with KG/Pierce/Rondo the last couple years has really suffered.

It's obvious they don't try to win every game to save energy for the playoffs and it just turns some people off.

I think some would rather watch a hard-working team with a chance of not making the playoffs than a team that feels entitled to be in the playoffs without having to play hard every night.

It's "obvious"?   That they "don't try"?

More likely, that's just the opinion of some who don't seem to accept how hard it is to win consistently in the NBA.   Especially without a healthy roster.

Whatever.  I guess it's easy enough to just tag character flaws like laziness and lack of caring on these guys than to figure out that maybe, just maybe what they are trying to do is not easy and that the other teams have a role in the outcomes.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Anyone that would say NO to this question is not a real Celtics fan.
Thank you, twistedrico14...I guess that washes 50+ years of cheering for good teams and bad down the drain.    :'(

I've followed them twice before when they tanked, so I imagine I'd follow them this time, too.

I'd be more disappointed this time around, though.

Yeah I'd still follow them just as much as I do now, but I'd probably watch less games. As much as I love the Celtics I'm not going to make a point of sitting down and watching every game if they aren't competitive.

I'd follow all their moves and check out the box scores for every game and see how the young guys they've got continue to develop, but I'm not watching a weak Celtics squad take on the Bobcats for 48 mins.

There is even a small chance that I might actually be more interested if they have some nice young pieces I'd like to watch develop.

Yes this STH would still follow them. I wish they had begun the teardown/rebuild a year ago. Since they didn't, now is the time.

It'd be disgusting if they tank on purpose, but I absolutely would follow them as avidly as ever.  If the team was 0-40, I'd watch game 41.  If they were 0-81, I'd watch game 82.  I love the Celtics to death and 'till death.  You'd have to decapitate me to stop following them.  If anything at all, it would be enjoyable to watch the younger players develop.

My proudest moment as a Celtics fan was being at game two of the finals the year we won.  My second proudest moment was being at the record 18th consecutive loss.  Through thick and thin!

At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

noted, but can I express that basing fandom solely on results rings hollow to me?

YES!

I'd root for the number one pick with the best of them.

Fairweather is a word that comes to mind regarding this topic.

I have loved the C's. But I have absolutely hated certain players on the team.  I could not stand Potapenko.  I didn't root against him ever.   I just wanted us to get better and we did with Perk so I was happy.   Granted neither of them was  Russell nor even the Chief but they were better than Montross, Travis Knight and Greg Kite.
