It seems to be that the continually cheap ownership of Memphis will be looking to move Randolph this summer possibly. They clearly lack shooting and it showed in the WCF. People in Memphis say they think Randolph could be had for possibly a few role players.

Just connecting the dots here but could a package of Lee/Terry/Bass interest them? Would that be something of interest to Celtic fans? Providing we can fill the guard vacancy left

Call them cheap, but both Gay and Z-Bo's contracts were/are albatrosses that limited flexibility in the new era of the stricter salary cap.  They did a great job to get out from under Gay's contract, and I think they'd be wise to do the same with Randolph's if they can get a decent return.

That said, I'm not completely against your proposed trade, but it wouldn't be the first one I'd pursue.  It would give us two more roster spots to fill with a million less dollars to work with.  On the plus side, Z-Bo is a real upgrade on Bass, and in 2014 his salary drops while the three you have the Celtics trading away continue to rise, so there are some long-term cost savings.  If clearing out the guard logjam could make Redick willing to sign here, I'd be more for it.  I also think it would depend on how the draft goes.

Fair enough. I wonder what team would be interested? Providing they're simply trying to save money, what team under the cap would even be interested in Randolph?

dump about 6 current Celtics that are scrubs and get him.  Send Pierce and Bassomatic, what ever... got to lighten the baggage on the C's so we can get a couple serious players.

Unfortunately, I feel like this was MEM's only chance to make the Finals with this core.  Griffin got hurt, Westbrook got hurt, Gallo and Steph got hurt (I think DEN or GSW could've knocked off SAS if these injuries didn't happen).  Everything went just about right for them in the West.

Unless they get lots of floor spacing spacing (and I mean LOTS) in the offseason, I don't see that team doing much other than maybe being second round fodder.

That doesn't surprise. It has made sense for a while now. Especially after the way they dumped Rudy Gay. With Z-Bo's decreased production + high salary + aging quickly + hasn't shown himself able to fully recover from recent knee injury ... there are quite a few reasons for Memphis to move on.

Plus, I think they will want to get Ed Davis into a starter's role to see what he can do with 30-35 minutes a night alongside Marc Gasol. I reckon they believe they got a steal with E.Davis and that he can be a very valuable player for them.

I don't think Zach Randolph will cost too much. An expiring contract and two mid first rounders would probably get it done. Or a young quality starter with room for improvement. I was thinking of Faried but a Jeff Green type makes sense too.

Unfortunately Pierce is the only big expiring contract Boston has which limits their options. Also, Hollinger was strongly negative on Jeff Green and with Tayshaun Prince there already they may have zero interest in Green. So the trade assets don't line up well for Boston. Maybe a three team trade.

I think Pierce by himself would be enough to get Z-Bo. I also think Sullinger + a first and expiring contracts could get you Z-Bo. Maybe a swap of Jeff Green for an equivalent player on another team + a Courtney Lee type gets it done.

A package of Bass, Lee and Terry is a negative one. The Grizzlies won't want to take on all that salary. If they move Randolph, it will be because they want to improve their cap flexibility and gain an extra asset or two (young talent or draft picks) to retool their team around Marc Gasol and Mike Conley.

Yea I think you're right. Not to mention if they took the Lee/Bass/Terry package they would struggle to score severely

As much as I think Randolph would thrive in the eastern conference, I think he is going to demand more than I would want to give up.

How about Pierce and Bass for Prince and Randolph?

Memphis upgrades Prince and gets off the hook for Randolph's deal while also getting a rotation caliber big (making a little less than Prince).

Boston gets a versatile wing and a much needed boost to their frontcourt.

Would love if we could get z-bo. He would be a good fit with KG down low. We would really need to find a contributing back up Center though. But Z-bo on this team with Rondo would be scary.

That's actually a pretty interesting deal. Prince gives Boston another defender to defend stand in front of Lebron.
