If the Schroeder promise is true, are we probably trading Rondo? (To the Jazz)

This is pure speculation so get your salt and grain.

So I'm pretty sure that Danny is Chummy with Utahs GM...this is known league wide.(right?)
If this Schroeder guarantee rumor is true, then it's very possible that Rondo is on the block and Danny has decided it's time to blow this thing up.
A team that has young assets to go along with that friendship that Danny Has? The Utah Jazz.

With Millsap and Big Al being free agents and their two young big men ready to hit the starting unit, it might be time for them to go for broke and go after an elite PG like Rondo via a trade, whilst signing a solid shooting guard via free agency.

Here's the catch. They might decide that keeping Big Al to pair with Favors is the best route. Or keep Millsap and pair him with Kanter. They do this for the veteran leadership and reliability during the playoffs. They've had the luxury to watch both grow and learn and take their pick of which one they prefer. They will now have the capspace to sign a free agent shooting guard and acquire Rondo via trade to lead the team deep into the playoffs.

The good news is if Rondo is going to the Jazz, we are getting either Favors or Kanter + Alec Burks+picks in some kind of absolute haul.
They'd probably take Bradley or Lee + Bass too and give us DeMare Carol because they will need a solid playoff bench.

It seems like  we are getting too much for just Rondo, Avery and someone like Lee or Bass, but the Jazz are ready to contend again in the west and its very hard for them to get free agents to come out there. They dump Marvin Williams and Danny can torch them for a nice haul of treasure, considering we don't know how Rondo will be after this surgery....

Here's an example, give or take a smaller asset or two if you want....
JAZZ SEND:
Kanter
Schroeder (14th pick)
Carol(maybe Burks too if we're lucky/ extra greedy)
One bad contract (Marvin Williams?)
We keep our 16th pick.

BOSTON SENDS:
Rondo
Bradley
Bass
2014 second rounder (we have three extra 2nd rounders from 2014, 15 and 17 from the Kings and the Sam Casell  trade)
Melo
Shavlick Randolph

Utah new starting five:
Rondo
Free Agent shooting guard( Iguadala, JR Smith, Kevin Martin )
Hayward or Evans
Favors
Big Al

Bass and Avery or Lee off the bench.

Of course Utah could keep both Favors and Kanter but Danny won't want Millsap or Big Al if we are trading Rondo anyway because we'll be rebuilding so UTAH doesn't get their elite PG.
Would be a great start to a rebuild and we'd have some great assets moving forward with Green and Sully, Kanter and Schroeder and our own 16th pick,  whilst sucking enough to have a shot at Parker or Wiggins.

If we cant get any players to help KG this year, and Pierce is gone, Rondos knee is still not 100% then roll the dice Danny!

I think if the Celtics draft Schroeder it is because they feel he is the best player available. If he was good enough now to trade Rondo and start him at our pg spot he would be going in the top 5.

Alternatively, Rondo may not be healing quite as well as suggested.  Or Danny would like to have an actual backup point guard to keep Rondo's minutes low as he recovers during the season, instead of a combo guard.  All the better if he is cheap for a couple of years, and then either tradeable in the future, or can take over if Rondo does not stay past his current contract.  It was very clear that this team needed a point guard after Rondo went down, aside from that one stretch before other teams adapted.

I think it just means that the Celtics will flip Shroeder to the Jazz. Plus, Jazz are sticking with Kanter. They'd probably want a young PG to develop along with all their other young talent..

Yeah this the more likely scenario, would be good to learn from Rondo anyway, great asset and back up pg.

Yeah most likely he's just a good back up option with massive upside. I think that if Danny goes the less likely blow up route then something like this is reasonably possible with the jazz because...
1) Utah ain't the best free agent destination, getting an all star there isn't the easiest.
2) they have the bigs that Danny covets and the added picks
3) I recall Utah always having strong interest in Rondo and Danny and the Utah GM being friends.
4) The Jazz are ready to contend if they add an all star to this young core, at the position that they need veteran leadership, they've been collecting assets for 4 seasons to acquire a new PG after D Williams left.

You might be right, but is Schroeder ready to be the PG on this team of young, experienced players as they make a push to be a playoff contender? If not is Alek Burks? I don't think so. It's a position of need for them. We shall see.

if the promise is real, I would think Shroeder is the one being moved, not Rondo.

Maybe, PP& Shroeder in a S&T with Utah for Big Al or Milsap and filler.  maybe a 2nd rounder this year or next from Utah and Marvin Williams. 

would prefer to see a combo of Bass/Lee/JET/Crawford going out instead of PP though.

If the promise is true I think it has little to do with Rondo. I wouldn't be surprised if the pick lead to a trade involving Avery.

Not that I want to see Avery traded but Schrouder is said to also be an excellent on ball defender. Rondo, Avery and Schrouder are all basically the same size. Schrouder likely will never reach ABs level as a defender but he seems to have much more refined offensive skills at 19 than AB does at 22.(much better handle being the big thing).

I think this is a terrible trade.

Rondo is EASILLY the best (and biggest impact) player in that deal.  He's already the 2nd best PG in the entire NBA, and his game is still constantly improving (see: added midrange shot last season).

Bradley is elite on the defensive end of the floor and can dominate games defensively.

Rondo is 26, Bradley is 22.  Both are on very good value contracts...and we are in the middle of a transition from an old playoff team to a new future.   These are exactly the type of guys you DON'T want to lose.

Throw Bass in their too - the guy who shut down Melo last playoffs?

That's one core player, one All-Defensive player and one All-Star that you are giving up for nobody who (right now) is anywhere near a game changer or a player you could build around.

If Rondo were to get traded out, we would need nothing less than All-Star talent coming back. Anything less would  be absolutely ludicrous.

Favors and Kanter were both number 3 draft picks.  Schroeder is the fastest guy in the draft.  Bye bye Rondo.

That's what I'm thinking as well. There's no reason to trade for him if you're Utah, because you can just draft him at 14, unless there's another prospect you want enough to justify trading for the 16th.
