While I think Oladipo will be a fine player, I'd heard that the Wolves really wanted to add some shooters to their roster. Perhaps they'll do it via trade or free agency.

Charlotte badly needs some talent. Sliding down from #4 to #9 may not be a bad thing, if they can get a player or two out of Minnesota. The Wolves do have the #26 pick as well, but that can't be enough for Charlotte.

Fair enough if you think Williams potential can be unleashed by freeing him to a better situation.

I don't think the Cats are far enough under the cap to absorb that contract outright.

Perhaps they could send Ty Thomas to Minnesota, and take back another unwanted contract from the Wolves to balance things.

Why aren't they looking for a couple of point guards?

The Bobcats/Hornets only have 41 million committed next year.

You just do the trade in principal and then make the trade next league year. (which happens fairly commonly I believe)

Speaking of Minny and the draft, I was just browsing their draft history and discovered that the Pekovic pick was originally ours (acquired from Miami).

We gave it up in the Ricky Davis trade. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Cap holds for Henderson, Mullens, McRoberts, and the #4 pick push that number north of $60 million.

Cap holds = irrelevant if you're trading the pick for Williams.

They'd just waive Robert/Mullens, bam done.

41 + 7 + 6 = 53 plenty of room.

Edit: Oh they'd have to wiave their bird rights for Diop too, shucks!

They won't waive either of those guys. They loved McRoberts' energy last season, and Mullens is perhaps one of the few trade chips they have. Can't cut him without getting something in return.

I think a Draft Night trade of Ty Thomas and the #4 for Williams, a small filler contract (Malcolm Lee?), and the #9 would be ideal for Charlotte.

They can just sign McRoberts with the MLE if they wanted to after they waive him. Bird rights aren't essential to bringing him back.

Mullens has trade value? Who knew.

You're making this way too complicated, if the Bobcats/Hornets want to move the pick for Williams they can without the salary ballast.

Giving up Derrick Williams to move up 5 spots seems step, but who knows what the current GM thinks of him.

Edit: Thomas is owed another year after next, so I don't think they could dump his deal and get the #9 pick back.
