This would solve two problems, especially with Jack.  It would give us a SOLID back up PG that can score and defend and a decent back up Center or mediocre starting Center.  Maybe KG can help right the Biedrens' ship.

Landry would be a perfect rebounder off the bench.

Thoughts on either of these trades?

The Warriors might've been interested in Pierce at the deadline, because Barnes was still finding his feet. But after Barnes performances during the playoffs, I don't think the Warriors would want Pierce getting in the way of his development.

On top of that, the Celtics would have to take on Biedrins expiring contract to get salaries to match and I just don't think the Warriors could sweeten the deal enough to make that worthwhile.

Would be nice to get our hands on Ezeli somehow though!

Jack would be a perfect back up point guard for us, or any team for the matter IMO. But to give up Pierce just for the sake of getting a good back up PG doesnt appeal to me at all.

If there was a way to get Jack in a sign and trade (i believe he is a free agent this year no?) I would certainly inquire. He has a pretty good role in GS and fits what they are doing well. I feel like he resigns with the Warriors.

Biedrins is one of the worst players in the NBA.  Adding him to our team doesn't help.

Jack is a good player, but I don't think you trade a starting SF for a backup PG.  If we're going to let go of Pierce, I think we need to try to find building blocks, or at least "chips" that may be able to be turned into building blocks.

(Also, isn't Jack a free agent?)

Yea I see no point in this from Boston's side. You don't trade Pierce for a bunch of role players, unless those role players are younger than 25 and on decent contracts.

I could see Pierce being traded to GS if they had picks to compensate the Cs for taking on terrible contracts.
example PP + Bass for Jefferson + Biendris + 2 1sts
They don't have the draft picks to do this so not happening.

with them playing so well and Lee coming back next year, those first rounders would be in the 20's if they had them.  yuck

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Is Jack supposed to be the decent backup center or the mediocre starting center?

We have way too many guards as it is (and few big men).

I like Marcus Smart

I don't think GSW will want Pierce anymore. Not with H.Barnes having a breakout performance in the playoffs. It will only impede Barnes' growth having Pierce there. Make it more difficult to build up that young team. Need to let their young wings (K.Thompson, H.Barnes) grow into leaders. Not put somebody in their way.

Wrong fit for me. Time has passed on a Pierce to GSW trade.

Keeping their core together and proper bench players like J.Jack and C.Landry is more important to their locker room chemistry and long term growth as a team than trying to fit in a Paul Pierce who is still far too good / influential for a 20mpg bench role.
