Why are people so bitter around here?  OP is just sharing his excitement with us.  Nothing wrong with that.

I don't hate Olynyk, but Dario will be much better than him. He really has PG handles, unlike Olynyk, who has good instincts, but isn't a playmaker like Saric.

The NCAA is a joke compared to most of the european first level leagues, and Adriatic League is serious business, only ACB, Euroleague and maybe VTB are better leagues. Of course he needs to develop his shot selection, and everything else, he's just 19 years old. He was the MVP at the European U18 Championship last summer.

Saric dominated international youth competitions since he was 16y old and I am little surprised he is not Top 10 pick in a weak draft like this. (Maybe I am biased because I am from Croatia).

Unfortunately, Saric probably won't be available at 16. I think Mavs will take him with 13th pick. Donnie Nelson was in Zagreb couple of days ago, watching Saric. Here is the report.

Well, he's that talented, so maybe the Mavs take him. I hope they don't, though. He could stay another year or even two in Europe, if possible playing Euroleague to grow as a player and get used to better competition.

Since I knew he was from Sibenik, he became a favorite of mine, and one day he can be an All Star.

For some reason Giannis is slipping from many draft boards. All of these workouts Danny is doing could be just to prepare or find a gem in the rough. But i think he has other bigger ambitions, and Giannis if still avail will be picked by Danny.

6'10 guy who has 7'3 wingspan, dribbles like a pg, pretty athletic and quick. Has all the dream measures danny is looking for.  Plus he is the only one calling him similiar to pippen. Main thing he has to work on is to shoot with more consistency

1. Giannis (i don't think he will be chosen within the lotto bc of the talent available and moving in the lotto, and the uncertainty of how Giannis will do in the nba)

2. If Giannis is gone, Glen Rice Jr. , outside of Character, should be a lotto pick. Should of been mvp of d league playoffs.  Could be a better defender and tighten handles to help with ability to create his own shot

3. Shane Larkin - Just too much of everything and just his size as a weakness. Plus we already do have Rondo as a starting pg.

4. Other possibilities, Mason Plumlee (a top overall pf in the draft), Dennis Schroeder (has a promise already apparently, maybe its Danny?), Len or Cj Mccollum if they somehow magically drop due to their injury scare

Bottom line is, Danny is preparing post PP/KG era in Boston. He wants to grab the best franchise calibre player with 16, even though its going to be very hard to find one. Still we are picking very close to the lottery and its possible. Unlike a player who can do well in one or two aspects of the game, i see Danny wanting a guy that can do it all. This is from able to handle the ball, rebounding, passing, 2 way basketball, providing "impact".

IMO that was Danny's cover for being excited after seeing Schroeder over there.

I don't put a lot of faith in high light videos but the one above shows the potential this kid has. I particular like the fact that he seems to have a soft touch around the rim and finishes with contact.

I can see where the Durant comparisons come from. Not that he plays anything like durant but his size , length and the way he moves around the court reminds me a lot of Durant with maybe the game of a young Boris Diaw.

Step 1: Compare kid to all-time great
Step 2: Get everyone to think you're smokescreening
Step 3: Draft him
Step 4: Kid becomes all-time great

You can't teach height.  The kid is 6'10 at 18 years of age and he handles like a pointguard.  I think you gotta take a chance if you are Ainge at #16 cos the ceiling on the kid is just too high not to take the shot.

I'd also buy/obtain a late 1st/early 2nd rounder and take a 'safer' guy who will help us with defense/rebounding.  But I just would not pass on Adetokunbo's upside if he's available.  The kid has lottery level ceiling but he will be taken later cos he's an international guy, and scouting internationals is tough.

I mean look at Tony Parker, did you expect him to become a cornerstone of a championship club with the Spurs when you heard he was from France?

Really want this kid more since it is clear we are blowing it up . Why not just bring him over right away too ? I mean we are going to suck either way, at least he could get used to the competition level and culture of the NBA.

Draft him Danny, DO IT!

He's probably gonna go in the lottery now ;D

so when Danny says it , then you believe it huh? ;)

Whoever Danny picks usually pans out. If you look at his track record drafting its really good. He'll get an NBA career out of the guy most likely.

Danny is doing his best Red Auerbach impersonation, he is setting up some fool to draft this guy.

It might well be a smokescreen but I don't see any foolishness in drafting this kid to stash for the future.

International points tend to do well in the NBA, see -Parker, Tony and Rubio, Ricky.

I think Adetokunbo and Schroeder will be seen as steals after all is said and done.  I'd be satisfied with either one of them.  What drafting one of these kids allows us to do is part with Rondo if we need to down the road in order to get a bigger/better piece of the puzzle.
